Abstract

Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to monitor media are disclosed. An example system includes a second client device to transmit media to a first client device via a streaming monitor device, the streaming monitor device to operate as a Group Owner of a direct media network including the first and second client devices, identify media identification information and media device information, and transmit the media identification information and the media device information to the server, and the server to identify at least one of the first or second client devices based on the media device information, identify the media based on the media identification information, and generate a data association of the media and at least one of the first or second client devices, the data association based on a credit of the media as having been accessed by at least one of the first or second client devices.

identify media identification information associated with the media, the media identification information corresponding to an identification of the media;

identify media device information associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device;

transmit the media to the second client device via the first direct media network after extraction of the media identification information from the media; and

transmit the media identification information and the media device information to the server via a network; and

the server to:

identify at least one of the first client device or the second client device based on the media device information;

identify the media based on the media identification information; and

generate a data association of the media and at least one of the first client device or the second client device, the data association based on a credit of the media as having been accessed by at least one of the first client device or the second client device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is to extract at least one of device identification information, device manufacturer information, device operating system information, device type information, or a device media access control (MAC) address associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device from the media device information.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is to extract at least one of media metadata or a uniform resource locator associated with the media from the media identification information.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the streaming monitor device is to transmit data to the server, the data to be representative of a bandwidth of data transfer between the first client device and the second client device; and

the server is to extract the bandwidth of data transfer from the data.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is to credit the media with at least one of device identification information, device manufacturer information, device operating system information, device type information, or a device media access control (MAC) address associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the streaming monitor device is to

execute one or more negotiation operations to establish the first direct media network.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the media is first media, and the streaming monitor device is to:

generate a message after a fourth client device transmits second media to a fifth client device in the second direct media network; and

transmit the message to the server.

8. At least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising:

first instructions that, when executed, cause first processor circuitry to:

operate as a Group Owner of a first direct media network, the first direct media network to include a first client device and a second client device;

connect to a second direct media network as a third client device while connected to the first direct media network;

identify media identification information associated with media transmitted from the first client device to the second client device, the media identification information corresponding to an identification of the media;

identify media device information associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device;

cause transmission of the media to the second client device via the first direct media network after extraction of the media identification information from the media; and

cause transmission of the media identification information and the media device information to a server via a network; and

second instructions that, when executed, cause second processor circuitry to:

identify at least one of the first client device or the second client device based on the media device information;

identify the media based on the media identification information; and

generate a data association of the media and at least one of the first client device or the second client device, the data association based on a credit of the media as having been accessed by at least one of the first client device or the second client device.

9. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the second instructions, when executed, cause the second processor circuitry to extract at least one of device identification information, device manufacturer information, device operating system information, device type information, or a device media access control (MAC) address associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device from the media device information.

10. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the second instructions, when executed, cause the second processor circuitry to extract at least one of media metadata or a uniform resource locator associated with the media from the media identification information.

11. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein:

the first instructions, when executed, cause the first processor circuitry to cause transmission of data representative of a bandwidth of data transfer between the first client device and the second client device; and

the second instructions, when executed, cause the second processor circuitry to extract the bandwidth of data transfer from the data.

12. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the second instructions, when executed, cause the second processor circuitry to credit the media with at least one of device identification information, device manufacturer information, device operating system information, device type information, or a device media access control (MAC) address associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device.

13. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the first instructions, when executed, cause the first processor circuitry to

execute one or more negotiation operations to establish the first direct media network.

14. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the media is first media, and the first instructions, when executed, cause the first processor circuitry to:

generate a message after a fourth client device transmits second media to a fifth client device in the second direct media network; and

cause transmission of the message.

15. A method comprising:

transmitting media from a first client device to a second client device via a streaming monitor device;

operating the streaming monitor device as a Group Owner of a first direct media network, the first direct media network to include the first client device and the second client device, the streaming monitor device to be connected to a second direct media network as a third client device while the streaming monitor device is connected to the first direct media network;

identifying media identification information associated with the media at the streaming monitor device;

identifying media device information associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device at the streaming monitor device;

transmitting the media to the second client device via the first direct media network after extracting the media identification information from the media, the media identification information corresponding to an identification of the media;

transmitting the media identification information and the media device information from the streaming monitor device to a server via a network;

identifying at least one of the first client device or the second client device based on the media device information at the server;

identifying the media based on the media identification information at the server; and

generating a data association at the server of the media and at least one of the first client device or the second client device, the data association based on a credit of the media as having been accessed by at least one of the first client device or the second client device.

16. The method of claim 15 , further including extracting at least one of device identification information, device manufacturer information, device operating system information, device type information, or a device media access control (MAC) address associated with at least one of the first client device or the second client device from the media device information.

17. The method of claim 15 , further including extracting at least one of media metadata or a uniform resource locator associated with the media from the media identification information.

18. The method of claim 15 , further including:

transmitting data representative of a bandwidth of data transfer between the first client device and the second client device to the server; and

extracting the bandwidth of data transfer from the data at the server.
