Abstract

The present disclosure provides a method for searching and filtering media content, comprising presenting, with the aid of a computer processor, a first media stream from a previous filtering result. The first media stream may be generated from content aggregated from a plurality of different sources over a network. Two or more graphical elements associated with two or more content filter panels may be provided in a user interface for filtering the first media stream. The two or more content filter panels may comprise at least a first panel for filtering by media source and a second panel for filtering by social tag. A navigational gesture may be received on the user interface indicating a selection of a content filter panel. A second media stream may then be generated in response to a selection of an item provided by the selected content filter panel.

Claims (30)

1 . A computer-implemented method for presenting social media content, comprising:

(a) receiving a search query from a user within a graphical user interface (GUI) of an electronic device;

(b) generating a first set of content aggregated from a plurality of social media sources in response to said search query;

(c) automatically determining a plurality of different dimensions and presenting said first set of content along with a plurality of graphical elements corresponding to said plurality of different dimensions within said GUI, wherein said plurality of graphical elements comprise at least a first indicator corresponding to a first navigational gesture and a first dimension from said plurality of different dimensions, and a second indicator corresponding to a second navigational gesture and a second dimension from said plurality of dimensions;

(d) receiving, a first navigational gesture within said GUI to trigger a filtering of said first set of content along said first dimension of said plurality of different dimensions to generate a second set of content; and

(e) presenting on said GUI i) said second set of content and ii) said first indicator and said second indicator for the user to select to further drill down said second set of content along said first dimension using said first navigational gesture or said second dimension using said second navigational gesture.

2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said first indicator has a visual feature different from a visual feature of said second indicator.

3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein said visual feature includes a color.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said electronic device is a portable electronic device and wherein said first navigational gesture comprises a swipe action in a first direction and said second navigational gesture comprises a swipe action in a second direction and said first direction and said second direction are different.

5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving said first navigational gesture or said second navigational gesture to further drill down said second set of content.

6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of different dimensions include at least a dimension along the plurality of media sources from which said first set of content is aggregated.

7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said second set of content is ranked based on relevancy.

8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the relevancy is determined using machine learning techniques.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of different dimensions include at least a dimension along categories or industry.

10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein (b) comprises generating a social media stream comprising said first set of content.

11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of different dimensions are determined using machine learning techniques.

12 . A system for presenting social media content, comprising: one or more computer processors are individually or collectively programmed to:

(a) receiving a search query from a user within a graphical user interface (GUI) of an electronic device;

(b) generate a first set of content aggregated from a plurality of social media sources in response to said search query;

(c) automatically determine a plurality of different dimensions and present said first set of content along with a plurality of graphical elements corresponding to said plurality of different dimensions within the GUI, wherein said plurality of graphical elements comprise at least a first indicator corresponding to a first navigational gesture and a first dimension from said plurality of different dimensions, and a second indicator corresponding to a second navigational gesture and a second dimension from said plurality of dimensions;

(d) receive, a first navigational gesture within said GUI to trigger a filtering of said first set of content along said first dimension of said plurality of different dimensions to generate a second set of content; and

(e) present on said GUI i) said second set of content and ii) said first indicator and said second indicator for the user to select to further drill down said second set of content along said first dimension using said first navigational gesture or said second dimension using said second navigational gesture.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said first indicator has a visual feature different from a visual feature of said second indicator.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein said visual feature includes a color.

15 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said first navigational gesture comprises a swipe action in a first direction and said second navigational gesture comprises a swipe action in a second direction and said first direction and said second direction are different.

16 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said plurality of different dimensions include at least a dimension along the plurality of media sources from which said first set of content is aggregated.

17 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said second set of content is ranked based on relevancy.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the relevancy is determined using machine learning techniques.

19 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said plurality of different dimensions include at least a dimension along categories or industry.

20 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said plurality of different dimensions are determined using machine learning techniques.
