Abstract

An organometallic compound, represented by Formula 1: M 1 (Ln 1 ) n1 (Ln 2 ) n2   Formula 1 wherein, in Formula 1, M 1 is a transition metal, Ln 1 is a ligand represented by Formula 1A, Ln 2 is a ligand represented by Formula 1B, n1 is 1 or 2, and n2 is 1 or 2: wherein the substituents of Formulae 1A and 1B are as provided herein in the detailed description.

Claims (102)

1 . An organometallic compound, represented by Formula 1:

M 1 (Ln 1 ) n1 (Ln 2 ) n2   Formula 1

wherein, in Formula 1,

M 1 is a transition metal,

Ln 1 is a ligand represented by Formula 1A,

Ln 2 is a ligand represented by Formula 1B,

n1 is 1 or 2,

n2 is 1 or 2,

wherein, in Formulae 1A, 1B, 3B, and 40,

CY 1 and CY 2 are each a C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group or a C 1 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

CY 3 is represented by Formula 3B,

CY 4 is a group represented by Formula 40,

X 1 is C or N, and X 2 is C or N,

X 3 is N, and X 4 is C or N,

Y 1 is —O—, —S—, —Se—, —C(R 3 )(R 4 )—, —N(R 3 )—, or —B(R 3 )—,

Y 41 and Y 42 are each independently a single bond, —O—, —S—, —Se—, —C(R 5 )(R 6 )—, —N(R 5 )—, or —B(R 5 )—,

Y 41 and Y 42 are not both a single bond at the same time,

X 31 is C(R 31 ) or N, X 32 is C(R 32 ) or N, X 33 is C(R 33 ) or N, X 34 is C(R 34 ) or N, and X 35 is C(R 35 )R 36 ) or N(R 35 ),

R 10 and R 20 are each independently hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —SF 5 , a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 60 alkyl aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 60 aryl alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkyl heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroarylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, or a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group,

R 1 to R 6 , R 30 , R 31 to R 36 , and R 40 are each independently hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —SF 5 , a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 60 alkyl aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 60 aryl alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkyl heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroarylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 1 )(Q 2 )(Q 3 ), —Ge(Q 1 )(Q 2 )(Q 3 ), —N(Q 4 )(Q 5 ), —B(Q 6 )(Q 7 ), —P(Q 8 )(Q 9 ), or —P(═O)(Q 8 )(Q 9 ),

when Y 1 is —O—, then at least one R 30 is a group represented by Formulae 10-13 to 10-47, 10-49 to 10-154, 10-204, or 10-205:

two or more of a plurality of R 10 (s) are optionally linked together to form a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

two or more of a plurality of R 20 (s) are optionally linked together to form a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

two or more of a plurality of R 30 (s) are optionally linked together to form a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

two or more of a plurality of R 40 (s) are optionally linked together to form a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

neighboring two or more of R 1 to R 6 , R 10 , R 20 , R 30 , and R 40 are optionally linked together to form a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

b10, b20, and b40 are each independently 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10,

in Formulae 1A, and 1B, * and *′ each indicate a binding site to M 1 ,

in Formula 3B, * indicates a binding site to M 1 and, *′ indicates a binding site to a neighboring atom,

“Ph” represents a phenyl group,

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 7 -C 60 alkyl aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkyl heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, or a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, each substituted with at least one of deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —CD 3 , —CD 2 H, —CDH 2 , —CF 3 , —CF 2 H, —CFH 2 , a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 1 -C 60 alkylthio group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 7 -C 60 alkyl aryl group, a C 7 -C 60 aryl alkyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkyl heteroaryl group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl alkyl group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryloxy group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroarylthio group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 21 )(Q 22 )(Q 23 ), —Ge(Q 21 )(Q 22 )(Q 23 ), —N(Q 24 )(Q 25 ), —B(Q 26 )(Q 27 ), —P(Q 28 )(Q 29 ), —P(═O)(Q 28 )(Q 29 ), or a combination thereof; or

—Si(Q 31 )(Q 32 )(Q 33 ), —Ge(Q 31 )(Q 32 )(Q 33 ), —N(Q 34 )(Q 35 ), —B(Q 36 )(Q 37 ), —P(Q 38 )(Q 39 ), or —P(═O)(Q 38 )(Q 39 ), and

Q 1 to Q 9 , Q 11 to Q 19 , Q 21 to Q 29 , and Q 31 to Q 39 are each independently hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —SF 5 , a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 60 alkyl aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 60 aryl alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkyl heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroarylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, or a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group.

2 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein M 1 is iridium (Ir), platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), gold (Au), osmium (Os), titanium (Ti), zirconium (Zr), hafnium (Hf), europium (Eu), terbium (Tb), thulium (Tm), or rhodium (Rh).

3 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein

M 1 is Ir.

4 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein

the sum of (n1 and n2) is equal to 3.

The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein CY 1 and CY 2 are each independently a benzene group, a naphthalene group, a 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene group, a phenanthrene group, a pyridine group, a pyrimidine group, a pyrazine group, a triazine group, a quinoline group, an isoquinoline group, a quinoxaline group, a quinazoline group, a phenanthroline group, a benzofuran group, a benzothiophene group, a fluorene group, a carbazole group, a dibenzofuran group, a dibenzothiophene group, a dibenzosilole group, an azafluorene group, an azacarbazole group, an azadibenzofuran group, an azadibenzothiophene group, or an azadibenzosilole group.

6 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein Ln 1 is represented by Formula 1A-1:

wherein, in Formula 1A-1,

X 11 is C(R 11 ) or N, X 12 is C(R 12 ) or N, X 13 is C(R 13 ) or N, and X 14 is C(R 14 ) or N,

X 21 is C(R 21 ) or N, X 22 is C(R 22 ) or N, X 23 is C(R 23 ) or N, and X 24 is C(R 24 ) or N,

R 11 to R 14 are each independently as described in connection with R 10 in claim 1 ,

R 21 to R 24 are each independently as described in connection with R 20 in claim 1 , and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to M 1 .

7 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein Ln 1 is represented by one of Formulae 1A-11 to 1A-26:

wherein, in Formulae 1A-11 to 1A-26,

R 10 and R 20 are as described in claim 1 ,

b51 and b54 are each independently 1 or 2,

b53 and b55 are each independently 1, 2, or 3,

b52 and b56 are each independently 1, 2, 3, or 4, and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to M 1 .

8 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein Ln 2 is represented by one of Formulae 1B-1 to 1B-3:

wherein, in Formulae 1B-1 to 1B-3,

CY 3 , X 3 , Y 1 , Y 41 , Y 42 , R 1 , R 2 , R 30 , and b30 are as described in claim 1 ,

R 41 to R 48 are each independently as described in connection with R 40 in claim 1 , and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to M 1 .

9 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein Ln 2 is represented by one of Formulae 1B-11 to 1B-16:

CY 3 , X 3 , Y 1 , Y 41 , Y 42 , R 1 , R 2 , R 30 , and b30 are as defined in claim 1 ,

10 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein CY 3 is represented by one of Formulae 3-5 to 3-12:

R 31 to R 35 are each independently as described in connection with R 30 in claim 1 , and

* indicates a binding site to M 1 , and

*′ indicates a binding site to a neighboring atom.

11 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein

R 10 and R 20 are each independently hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —CD 3 , —CD 2 H, —CDH 2 , —CF 3 , —CF 2 H, —CFH 2 , a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 1 -C 60 alkylthio group, or represented by one of Formulae 9-1 to 9-39, 9-44 to 9-61, 9-201 to 9-244, 10-1 to 10-154, or 10-201 to 10-350,

R 1 to R 6 , R 30 , and R 40 are each independently: hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —CD 3 , —CD 2 H, —CDH 2 , —CF 3 , —CF 2 H, —CFH 2 , a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 1 -C 60 alkylthio group, —Si(Q 1 )(Q 2 )(Q 3 ), or —Ge(Q 1 )(Q 2 )(Q 3 ); or

a group represented by one of Formulae 9-1 to 9-67, 9-201 to 9-244, 10-1 to 10-154, or 10-201 to 10-350:

wherein, in Formulae 9-1 to 9-67, 9-201 to 9-244, 10-1 to 10-154, and 10-201 to 10-350,* indicates a binding site to a neighboring atom, “Ph” is a phenyl group, “TMS” is a trimethylsilyl group, and “TMG” is a trimethylgermyl group.

12 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein the organometallic compound is represented by one of Formulae 30-7 to 30-12:

wherein, in Formulae 30-7 to 30-12,

M 1 , n1, n2, Y 1 , Y 41 , Y 42 , R 1 , and R 2 are as defined in claim 1 ,

X 31 is C(R 3 1) or N, X 32 is C(R 32 ) or N, X 33 is C(R 33 ) or N, X 34 is C(R 34 ) or N, and X 35 is C(R 35 )(R 36 ) or N(R 35 ),

R 11 to R 14 are each independently as described in connection with R 10 in claim 1 ,

R 21 to R 24 are each independently as described in connection with R 20 in claim 1 ,

R 31 to R 36 are each independently as described in connection with R 30 in claim 1 , and

R 41 to R 48 are independently as described in connection with R 40 in claim 1 .

13 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein the organometallic compound is electrically neutral.

14 . The organometallic compound of claim 1 , wherein the organometallic compound is one or more of Compounds 1 to 40:

15 . An organic light-emitting device, comprising:

a first electrode;

a second electrode; and

an organic layer arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode,

wherein the organic layer comprises an emission layer, and

wherein the organic layer further comprises at least one organometallic compound of claim 1 .

16 . The organic light-emitting device of claim 15 , wherein the emission layer comprises the at least one organometallic compound.

17 . The organic light-emitting device of claim 16 , wherein the emission layer further comprises a host, and an amount of the host in the emission layer is greater than an amount of the at least one organometallic compound in the emission layer.

18 . The organic light-emitting device of claim 15 , wherein

the first electrode is an anode,

the second electrode is a cathode,

the organic layer further comprises a hole transport region arranged between the first electrode and the emission layer, and an electron transport region arranged between the emission layer and the second electrode,

the hole transport region comprises a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an electron blocking layer, a buffer layer, or a combination thereof, and

the electron transport region comprises a hole blocking layer, an electron transport layer, an electron injection layer, or a combination thereof.

19 . An electronic apparatus, comprising the organic light-emitting device of claim 15 .
