Abstract

A low profile holding tank-evacuable to a pressure differential of at least about 10″ of mercury that includes a plurality of support structures, a peripheral wall, an upper outer layer of mild steel and a lower outer layer of mild steel, each of the upper outer layer and the lower outer layer is configured to be up to about ¼ inches thick. At least some of the plurality of support structures are required to be fixedly connected to upper and lower outer layers to prevent damages incurred on the low profile holding tank by repeated applications of the pressure differential of at least about 10″ of mercury. At least some of the connections are required to be made from the outside of the tank via a welding, e.g., plug welding, technique.

Claims (3)

1. A low profile holding tank evacuable to a pressure differential of at least about 10″ of mercury, said low profile holding tank comprising: at least one support structure, an upper outer layer of mild steel and a lower outer layer of mild steel, each of said upper outer layer and said lower outer layer is configured to be up to about ¼ inches thick and a peripheral wall, said upper outer layer, said lower outer layer and said peripheral wall cooperate to define a space, said at least one support structure is connected to said upper outer layer at an upper connection point and said at least one support structure is connected to said lower outer layer at a lower connection point, wherein at least one of said upper connection point and said lower connection point is made from outside of said space to prevent damages incurred on said low profile holding tank by repeated applications of the pressure differential of at least about 10″ of mercury.

2. The low profile holding tank of claim 1 , wherein said at least one of said upper connection point and said lower connection point is made using plug welding.

3. The low profile holding tank of claim 1 , wherein said low profile holding tank is a low profile transportable holding tank.
