Abstract

An electronic device and method for wireless communication, the method including detecting a beam quality of a currently serving beam; starting a prediction window when the detected beam quality is within a particular range, and evaluating the beam quality of the currently serving beam within the prediction window.

Claims (48)

1. An electronic apparatus for wireless communications, including:

circuitry, configured to:

generate a configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation of a user equipment and contain the configuration in a radio resource control signal to be provided to the user equipment; and

generate a beam failure recovery request response in response to receiving a beam failure recovery request from the user equipment,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation includes timing information for beam quality evaluation,

wherein the timing information for beam quality evaluation comprises information on a duration of beam quality evaluation before beam failure is detected,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation further includes information for selecting a candidate beam as a switching target,

wherein the information for selecting the candidate beam as the switching target comprises a Reference Signal Receiving Power (RSRP) threshold for selecting the candidate beam,

wherein a currently serving beam is determined to have failed by the user equipment. in a case that a number of events that the beam quality is detected by the user equipment is below a first threshold in the duration exceeds a predetermined value, and a candidate beam is then selected by the user equipment as a switching target, and

wherein the candidate beam selected by the user equipment is a beam with a RSRP that is higher than the RSRP threshold,

wherein the circuitry is configured to receive the information about the selected candidate beam in the beam failure recovery request from the user equipment.

2. The electronic apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the electronic apparatus is implemented as a base station.

3. An electronic apparatus for wireless communications, including:

circuitry, configured to:

acquire a configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation from a base station via a radio resource control signal; and

generate a beam failure recovery request based on the configuration,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation includes timing information for beam quality evaluation,

wherein the timing information for beam quality evaluation comprises information on a duration of beam quality evaluation before beam failure is detected,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation further includes information for selecting a candidate beam as a switching target, and

wherein the information for selecting the candidate beam as the switching target comprises a Reference Signal Receiving Power (RSRP) threshold for selecting the candidate beam,

wherein the circuitry is further configured to:

determine that the currently serving beam is failed, in a case that the number of events that a block error rate of a hypothetical physical downlink control channel is detected below the first threshold in a duration exceeds a predetermined value, and

select a beam with a RSRP that is higher than the RSRP threshold as the candidate beam, and contain the information about the selected candidate beams in the beam failure recovery request.

4. The electronic apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:

transmit the beam recovery request to the base station,

start timing within a window after the beam recovery request is transmitted, and

monitor a beam recovery request response from the base station within the window.

5. The electronic apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the electronic apparatus is implemented as a user equipment.

6. A method for wireless communications, including:

generating a configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation of a user equipment and contain the configuration in a radio resource control signal to be provided to the user equipment; and

generating a beam failure recovery request response in response to receiving a beam failure recovery request from the user equipment,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation includes timing information for beam quality evaluation,

wherein the timing information for beam quality evaluation comprises information on a duration of beam quality evaluation before beam failure is detected,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation further includes information for selecting a candidate beam as a switching target,

wherein the information for selecting the candidate beam as the switching target comprises a Reference Signal Receiving Power (RSRP) threshold for selecting the candidate beam,

wherein a currently serving beam is determined to have failed by the user equipment, in a case that a number of events that the beam quality is detected by the user equipment is below a first threshold in the duration exceeds a predetermined value, and a candidate beam is then selected by the user equipment as a switching target, and

wherein the candidate beam selected by the user equipment is a beam with a RSRP that is higher than the RSRP threshold,

wherein the method further comprises receiving the information about the selected candidate beam in the beam failure recovery request from the user equipment.

7. A method for wireless communications, including:

acquiring a configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation from a radio resource control signaling from a base station; and

generating a beam failure recovery request based on the configuration,

wherein the configuration includes timing information for beam quality evaluation,

wherein the timing information for beam quality evaluation comprises information on a duration of beam quality evaluation before beam failure is detected,

wherein the configuration for beam failure detection and recovery operation further includes information for selecting a candidate beam as a switching target, and

wherein the information for selecting the candidate beam as the switching target comprises a Reference Signal Receiving Power (RSRP) threshold for selecting the candidate beam,

wherein the method further comprises:

determining that the currently serving beam is failed, in a case that the number of events that a block error rate of a hypothetical physical downlink control channel is detected below the first threshold in a duration exceeds a predetermined value, and

selecting a beam with a RSRP that is higher than the RSRP threshold as the candidate beam, and containing the information about the selected candidate beams in the beam failure recovery request.
