Abstract

A computer-implemented method, computer program product, and computing system for rendering an annotatable image within an image viewer. An indication of an intent to annotate the annotatable image is received from a user. A meme generation interface is rendered with respect to the annotatable image. Meme annotation criteria is received from the user via the meme generation interface. The meme annotation criteria includes one or more of: a meme message, a meme position indicator, and a font type identifier. The annotatable image is modified based, at least in part, upon the meme annotation criteria, thus generating an annotated image. The annotated image is published to a meme publication website.

Claims (66)

1. A method comprising:

displaying, by an image viewer application executing on a computing device, one or more images;

receiving a selection of an image for annotating from the one or more images; and

in response to receiving the selection of the image:

rendering a meme generation interface including an image viewing field and an annotation criteria interface outside of the image viewing field, the meme generation interface being separate from the image viewer application;

displaying the image in the image viewing field of the meme generation interface;

receiving annotation criteria by way of the annotation criteria interface;

updating the image to an updated image based on the annotation criteria;

subsequent to updating the image based on the annotation criteria, displaying the updated image in the image viewing field of the meme generation interface; and

storing the updated image.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein updating the image based on the annotation criteria comprises, based on determining, by the computing device, that the computing device is not connected to a communication network, storing the annotation criteria for updating the image at a later time when the computing device is connected to the communication network.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the annotation criteria includes a font type.

4. The method of claim 1 ,

wherein the computing device is a first computing device; and

wherein the method further comprises causing the updated image to be presented on a second computing device different from the first computing device.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the updated image is presented on the second computing device in response to receiving an input from the first computing device.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the updated image is presented on the second computing device within a page associated with a social networking service.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the annotation criteria interface includes:

a text box for receiving a message,

a plurality of selectable inputs for indicating a position at which the message is to be presented on the image, and

an update image button that, when selected, initiates the updating of the image.

8. A system comprising:

a computing device coupled to at least one storage device and including at least one processor; and

a non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the at least one processor having computer executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

displaying, by an image viewer application, one or more images on the computing device;

receiving a selection of an image for annotating from the one or more images; and

in response to receiving the selection of the image:

rendering a meme generation interface including an image viewing field and an annotation criteria interface outside of the image viewing field, the meme generation interface being separate from the image viewer application;

displaying, on the computing device, the image in the image viewing field of the meme generation interface;

receiving annotation criteria by way of the annotation criteria interface;

updating the image to an updated image based on the annotation criteria;

subsequent to updating the image based on the annotation criteria, displaying the updated image in the image viewing field of the meme generation interface; and

storing the updated image on the at least one storage device.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein updating the image based on the annotation criteria comprises:

based on determining that the computing device is not connected to a communication network storing the annotation criteria for updating the image at a later time when the computing device is connected to the communication network.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the annotation criteria includes a font type.

11. The system of claim 8 ,

wherein the computing device is a first computing device; and

wherein the operations further comprise causing the updated image to be presented on a second computing device different from the first computing device.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the updated image is presented on the second computing device in response to receiving an input from the first computing device.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the updated image is presented on the second computing device within a page associated with a social networking service.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the annotation criteria interface includes:

a text box for receiving a message,

a plurality of selectable inputs for indicating a position at which the message is to be presented on the image, and

an update image button that, when selected, initiates the updating of the image.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

displaying, by an image viewer application executing on a computing device, one or more images;

receiving a selection of an image for annotating from the one or more images; and

in response to receiving the selection of the image

rendering a meme generation interface including an image viewing field and an annotation criteria interface outside of the image viewing field, the meme generation interface being separate from the image viewer application;

displaying the image in the image viewing field of the meme generation interface;

receiving annotation criteria by way of the annotation criteria interface;

updating the image to an updated image based on the annotation criteria;

subsequent to updating the image based on the annotation criteria, displaying the updated image in the image viewing field of the meme generation interface; and

storing the updated image.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein updating the image based on the annotation criteria comprises, based on determining, by the computing device, that the computing device is not connected to a communication network, storing the annotation criteria for updating the image at a later time when the computing device is connected to the communication network.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the annotation criteria includes a font type.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 ,

wherein the computing device is a first computing device; and

wherein the method further comprises causing the updated image to be presented on a second computing device different from the first computing device.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the updated image is presented on the second computing device in response to receiving an input from the first computing device.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the updated image is presented on the second computing device within a page associated with a social networking service.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the annotation criteria interface includes:

a text box for receiving a message,

a plurality of selectable inputs for indicating a position at which the message is to be presented on the image, and

an update image button that, when selected, initiates the updating of the image.
