Abstract

Disclosed are a target tracking method and apparatus using a gimbal camera. The target tracking method may include recognizing a face of a person by analyzing an image that is received through a camera included in a target tracking apparatus, determining whether the recognized face is a registered face, providing a user interface for registering the recognized face when the recognized face is not the registered face, registering the recognized face when receiving a registration request for the recognized face through the user interface, and tracking the recognized face by controlling the rotation of the camera through a driving unit included in the target tracking apparatus when the recognized face is the registered face.

Claims (65)

1 . A target tracking method of a target tracking apparatus comprising at least one processor, the target tracking method comprising:

recognizing, using a face recognition engine by the at least one processor, a face of a person by analyzing an image that is received through a single camera included in the target tracking apparatus;

determining, by the at least one processor, whether the recognized face is a registered face;

providing, by the at least one processor, a user interface for registering the recognized face when the recognized face is not the registered face;

registering, by the at least one processor, the recognized face when receiving a registration request for the recognized face through the user interface; and

tracking, by the at least one processor, the recognized face by controlling a rotation of the single camera through a driving unit included in the target tracking apparatus when the recognized face is the registered face,

wherein the tracking of the recognized face comprises:

when a multi-tracking mode is executed on the target tracking apparatus, simultaneously tracking, by the at least one processor using the single camera, a plurality of recognized faces including the recognized face by tracking a location of a center point determined based on the locations of at least two registered faces within the plurality of recognized faces,

wherein the target tracking method further comprises:

displaying, by the at least one processor, the received image on a display included in the target tracking apparatus;

displaying, by the at least one processor, a first mark indicating the registered face in the image based on the recognition by the face recognition engine;

triggering, by the at least one processor, an AI tracking mode to track the registered face in response to a user input associated with the first mark;

displaying, by the at least one processor, a second mark in the image that is visually distinguishable from the first mark, in response to the AI tracking mode being triggered; and

tracking, using an object recognition engine of the AI tracking mode by the at least one processor, an object corresponding to the registered face.

2 . The target tracking method of claim 1 ,

wherein a mark indicated when the recognized face is the registered face and a mark indicated when the recognized face is not the registered face are visually distinguished each other in the image.

3 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , wherein further indicating the first mark comprises further indicating an identifier of the registered face.

4 . The target tracking method of claim 3 , wherein the identifier comprises a number according to a sequence in which a corresponding face has been registered or separately designated text.

5 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , wherein tracking the recognized face comprises controlling the rotation of the single camera by controlling at least one of a pan axis motor, a roll axis motor, and a tilt axis motor included in the driving unit.

6 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , wherein:

determining whether the recognized face is the registered face comprises determining whether each of a plurality of faces is a registered face when the plurality of faces is recognized in the received image, and

tracking the recognized face comprises tracking a face that has been first registered by assigning priority to the face that has been first registered when two or more of the plurality of faces are registered faces.

7 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , wherein the simultaneously tracking comprises simultaneously tracking the face that has been first registered and a selected face when a face without assigned priority is selected from the plurality of recognized faces.

8 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , wherein:

determining whether the recognized face is the registered face comprises determining whether each of a plurality of faces is a registered face when the plurality of faces is recognized in the received image, and

tracking the recognized face comprises tracking a selected face by assigning priority to the selected face, when two or more of the plurality of faces are registered faces and a user selects any one of the two or more registered faces.

9 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , wherein

determining whether the recognized face is the registered face comprises determining whether each of a plurality of faces is a registered face when the plurality of faces is recognized in the received image.

10 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , further comprising releasing, by the at least one processor, a tracking of a selected face when the face being tracked is selected.

11 . The target tracking method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, by the at least one processor, a setting function for setting sensitivity of the single camera comprising a value of an angle for triggering the rotation of the single camera,

wherein tracking the recognized face comprises controlling the rotation of the single camera based on the sensitivity set through the setting function, and

the value of the angle comprises a value of an angle indicating that a target being tracked deviates from a center of a screen.

12 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium on which a computer program is recorded in order to execute the method according to claim 1 in a computer device.

13 . A target tracking apparatus comprising:

at least one processor implemented to execute a computer-readable instruction;

a single camera receiving an image;

a display displaying the received image; and

a driving unit rotating the camera,

wherein the at least one processor is implemented to:

recognize, using a face recognition engine, a face of a person by analyzing an image that is received through the single camera;

determine whether the recognized face is a registered face;

provide a user interface for registering the recognized face when the recognized face is not the registered face;

register the recognized face when receiving a registration request for the recognized face through the user interface; and

track the recognized face by controlling a rotation of the camera through the driving unit when the recognized face is the registered face, and

wherein the at least one processor is further implemented to

when a multi-tracking mode is executed on the target tracking apparatus, simultaneously track, using the single camera, a plurality of recognized faces including the recognized face by tracking a location of a center point determined based on the locations of at least two registered faces within the plurality of recognized faces,

wherein the at least one processor is further implemented to

display the received image on a display included in the target tracking apparatus,

display a first mark indicating the registered face in the image based on the recognition by the face recognition engine,
