Abstract

A fraud detection system which detects fraud in a game of performing collection and redemption of chips in accordance with a win or lose result includes a camera which captures an image of chips contained in a chip tray of a dealer, an image analyzing apparatus which analyses the image captured by the camera to detect an amount of the chips contained in the chip tray, a card distribution device which determines a win or lose result of a game, and a control device which compares the win or lose result of the game and the amount of the chips contained in the chip tray before and after collection and redemption of the chips to detect fraud.

Claims (45)

1. A chip recognition system for recognizing chips on a game table which has a plurality of playing positions for players, each playing position including one or more betting areas, the chip recognition system comprising:

a camera positioned above the game table such that a direction of an optical axis of the camera is positioned at an angle to a top surface of the game table, and which is configured to capture an image of the game table including one or more of the betting areas and chips wagered on the one or more betting areas; and

an image recognition device configured to:

recognize, based on the image and using artificial intelligence technology or a neural network, a position, a type, and a number of the chips placed on the game table; and

transmit information associated with the position, the type, and the number of the chips recognized by the image recognition device to a management device; and

wherein the position, the type, and the number of the chips recognized by the image recognition device enables the management device to detect fraud committed on the game table.

2. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein:

the camera is further configured to capture the image after a start of a game;

the image recognition device is further configured to perform recognition based on the image after the start of the game; and

based on a recognition result by the image recognition device after the start of the game, the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to determine an occurrence of cheating if the position, the type, or the number of the chips changes during the game.

The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein, based on a recognition result by the image recognition device after a start of a game, the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to determine an occurrence of cheating if there is movement of the chips or an increasing and/or decreasing in a number of the chips.

4. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein:

the management device comprises a game result obtaining device configured to determine a game result of a game played on the game table; and

together with the game result determined by the game result obtaining device, the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device for detecting fraud based on a history of a winning amount of the chips.

5. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein:

the management device further comprising:

a chip tray amount obtaining device configured to determine a total amount of chips in a chip tray of the game table; and

a game result obtaining device configured to determine an outcome of a game played on the game table; and

wherein, together with a game result obtained by the game result obtaining device and the total amount of the chips in the chip tray obtained by the chip tray amount obtaining device, the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to detect fraud according to a collection or redemption of the chips.

6. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to determine an occurrence of cheating if a bet amount, a win/loss amount and/or a win/loss history is unusual.

7. The chip recognition system according to claim 6 , wherein the unusual bet amount, the unusual win/loss amount, and/or the unusual win/loss history is:

1) a redemption amount is greater than a predetermined amount;

2) a losing amount is small and a winning amount is large for a predetermined numbers of games and unusual as compared to statistical data;

3) an actual winnings amount is unusual as compared to an average winning amount statistically predicted from a history of a wagered amount;

4) a position of chips wagered and an amount of winning chips is unusual as compared to statistical data; or

5) a winning rate for chips wagered above a predetermined amount is unusual as compared to statistical data.

8. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein:

one or more of the chips is embedded with an RFID which enables identification of an amount of the one or more chips;

the chip recognition system further comprising a reading device configured to determine a chip amount in a chip tray by reading the RFID of the chips in the chip tray; and

the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to detect fraud by:

calculating a total chip amount in the chip tray after a settlement based on the amount of the chips in the chip tray before the settlement, a game result, and the type and number of the chips each of the one or more betting areas,

performing a comparison of the calculated total amount of chips that should be in the chip tray after the settlement and a total amount of chips actually in the chip tray after the settlement, and

determining whether there is a difference between the calculated total amount of chips and the total amount of chips actually in the chip tray.

The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to detect a fraud in a game played on the game table based on changes of the type and number of the chips recognized by the image recognition device.

10. The chip recognition system according to the claim 1 , wherein:

the image recognition device is further configured to recognize one or more of hands of the players; and

the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to detect a fraud based on recognition of the one or more hands.

11. The chip recognition system according to the claim 1 , wherein:

the image recognition device is further configured to recognize whether a recognized chip is placed on the game table by a player or a dealer; and

the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to detect a fraud based on recognition of whether the recognized chip is placed on the game table by the player or the dealer.

12. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein:

the image recognition device is further configured to recognize by whom a recognized chip is taken from the game table; and

the information transmitted by the image recognition device is used by the management device to detect a fraud based on a recognition of by whom the recognized chip is taken from the game table.

13. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein the image recognition device is further configured to recognize the type and number of the wagered chips for each player, each playing position, and/or or each of the one or more betting areas.

14. The chip recognition system according to claim 1 , wherein the image recognition device is further configured to identify an amount of the chips based on the type and number of the wagered chips.
