Abstract

With respect to a video display apparatus, a technology capable of improving the operability and usability for a user in relation to a generated image such as AR (Augmented Reality) is provided. An HMD as a video display apparatus displays an AR image on a display screen, configures an ID image including identification information (ID) for supporting an operation of a user to the AR image, detects a sight line direction of the user to set a sight line region, and displays the ID image so as to be associated with the AR image when the AR image falls within a range of the sight line region. The HMD receives an operation to select the ID image from the user, selects the AR image associated with the ID image when receiving the operation to select the ID image, and executes a predetermined process associated with the AR image.

Claims (25)

1. A video display apparatus which displays a generated image so as to be superimposed on a real image, comprising:

a display configured to display the generated image on a display screen;

a sight line detector configured to detect a sight line direction of a user of the video display apparatus; and

processing circuitry configured to set a sight line region in accordance with the sight line direction detected by the sight line detector and control the display,

wherein, when the generated image is in the sight line region, the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display an ID image in a selection region provided on an upper side, a lower side, a right side or a left side of the display screen, the ID image includes identification information for supporting an operation of the user to the generated image, and

wherein the sight line region is enlarged or reduced so as to contain up to a predetermined number of the generated images based on a setting in accordance with an operation of the user.

2. The video display apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a camera configured to capture a real image to output an image data,

wherein the processing circuitry detects a real object from the image data outputted by the camera and control the display so as to display a generated image associated with the detected real object.

3. The video display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, when the selection region is provided on the upper side or the lower side of the display screen, the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display the ID image at a position matched with a position of the generated image in horizontal direction of the display screen.

4. The video display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, when the selection region is provided on the right side or the left side of the display screen, the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display the ID image at a position matched with a position of the generated image in vertical direction of the display screen.

5. The video display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry

set as the sight line region a predetermined range from a center point which is a position of the display screen corresponding to the sight line direction, and

controls the display so as to display a plurality of the ID images assigned identification information in order of distance between the center point and a plurality of the generated images when the plurality of the generated images is in the sight line region.

6. The video display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, when the selection region is provided on the upper side or the lower side of the display screen, the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display each of the ID images at positions matched with positions of the generated images in horizontal direction of the display screen, regardless of the order of the identification information.

7. The video display apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein, when the selection region is provided on the right side or the left side of the display screen, the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display each of the ID images at positions matched with positions of the generated images in vertical direction of the display screen, regardless of the order of the identification information.

8. A video display apparatus which displays a generated image so as to be superimposed on a real image, comprising:

a display configured to display the generated image on a display screen;

a sight line detector configured to detect a sight line direction of a user of the video display apparatus; and

processing circuitry configured to set a sight line region in accordance with the sight line direction detected by the sight line detector and control the display,

wherein, when the generated image is in the sight line region, the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display an ID image in a selection region provided on the display screen, the ID image includes identification information for supporting an operation of the user to the generated image, and

wherein the sight line region is enlarged or reduced so as to contain up to a predetermined number of the generated images based on a setting in accordance with an operation of the user.

9. The video display apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the processing circuitry

set the selection region at a position distance from a position where the generated image is displayed, and

controls the display so as to display a line indicating a correspondence relationship between the generated image and the ID image.

10. The video display apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the processing circuitry controls the display so as to display the ID image at a position matched with a position of the generated image in horizontal direction or vertical direction of the display screen.
