Abstract

Systems and methods that employ a cloud-based central determination server to provide predetermined game outcomes displayed at a game presentation device operating with a remote game server and a balance management server in association with funds transacted at a point-of-sale terminal.

Claims (36)

1 . A balance management server comprising:

a processor; and

a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

responsive to authorizing a request, received from a remote game server operating independent of the balance management server, to play a game:

modify a first balance of non-cashable funds based on a purchase price of the play of the game,

communicate, to a game presentation device operating independent of any gaming regulatory approval, data that results in a display device of the game presentation device displaying the modified first balance of non-cashable funds, and

communicate, to the remote game server, data authorizing the request to play the game,

responsive to a receipt, from the remote game server, of data associated with a predetermined game outcome determined from a game outcome seed selected by a cloud-based central determination system server distinct from the remote game server and operating independent of the balance management server:

modify a second balance of cashable funds based on any value component associated with the predetermined game outcome prior to the selection of the game outcome seed by the cloud-based central determination system server, and

communicate, to the game presentation device, data that results in the display device of the game presentation device displaying the modified second balance of cashable funds, and

responsive to an occurrence of a game session termination event, cause a winnings ticket voucher associated with the second balance of cashable funds to be issued.

2 . The balance management server of claim 1 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is redeemable at a point-of-sale terminal for a monetary amount based on the second balance of cashable funds.

3 . The balance management server of claim 1 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is associated with the first balance of non-cashable funds.

4 . The balance management server of claim 3 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is redeemable at a point-of-sale terminal for a monetary amount based on the first balance of non-cashable funds and the second balance of cashable funds.

5 . The balance management server of claim 3 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is redeemable in association with another game presentation device to modify a first balance of non-cashable funds of that other game presentation device.

6 . The balance management server of claim 1 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher comprises a virtual winnings ticket voucher.

7 . The balance management server of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to enable a transfer of at least part of the second balance of cashable funds to the first balance of non-cashable funds such that after the transfer, the transferred funds are converted to non-cashable funds.

8 . The balance management server of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to report, to a point-of-sale terminal, data associated with at least one of: the first balance of non-cashable funds, the second balance of cashable funds, the purchase price of the play of the game, the predetermined game outcome, and any value component associated with the predetermined game outcome.

9 . The balance management server of claim 1 , wherein the play of the game comprises an instant ticket lottery game displayed as a probability-based game.

10 . A method of operating a balance management server, the method comprising:

responsive to authorizing a request, received from a remote game server operating independent of the balance management server, to play a game:

modifying, by a processor of the balance management server, a first balance of non-cashable funds based on a purchase price of the play of the game,

causing a display, by a display device of a game presentation operating independent of any gaming regulatory approval, of the modified first balance of non-cashable funds, and

communicating, to the remote game server, data authorizing the request to play the game,

responsive to a receipt, from the remote game server, of data associated with a predetermined game outcome determined from a game outcome seed selected by a cloud-based central determination system server distinct from the remote game server and operating independent of the balance management server:

modifying, by the processor of the balance management server, a second balance of cashable funds based on any value component associated with the predetermined game outcome prior to the selection of the game outcome seed by the cloud-based central determination system server, and

causing a display, by the display device of the game presentation device, of the modified second balance of cashable funds, and

responsive to an occurrence of a game session termination event, causing a winnings ticket voucher associated with the second balance of cashable funds to be issued.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is redeemable at a point-of-sale terminal for a monetary amount based on the second balance of cashable funds.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is associated with the first balance of non-cashable funds.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is redeemable at a point-of-sale terminal for a monetary amount based on the first balance of non-cashable funds and the second balance of cashable funds.

14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher is redeemable in association with another game presentation device to modify a first balance of non-cashable funds of that other game presentation device.

15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the winnings ticket voucher comprises a virtual winnings ticket voucher.

16 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising enabling, by the processor of the balance management server, a transfer of at least part of the second balance of cashable funds to the first balance of non-cashable funds such that after the transfer, the transferred funds are converted to non-cashable funds.

17 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising reporting, by the processor of the balance management server and to a point-of-sale terminal, data associated with at least one of: the first balance of non-cashable funds, the second balance of cashable funds, the purchase price of the play of the game, the predetermined game outcome, and any value component associated with the predetermined game outcome.

18 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the play of the game comprises an instant ticket lottery game displayed as a probability-based game.
