SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTING A LOTTERY GAME

1 . A method, comprising:

receiving, at a processor, an indication that a user has redeemed a new lottery number for a lottery game based on an outcome of a first game;

determining, at the processor, a set of numbers previously assigned to the user as lottery numbers for a drawing of the lottery game;

determining, at the processor, that the drawing is current and has yet to occur; and

updating, at the processor and in response to determining that the drawing is current, the set of numbers to become inclusive of the new lottery number.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

causing an electronic record to be updated with the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number; and

presenting a display to the user that identifies the set of numbers has been updated to include the new lottery number.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first game comprises a game of skill.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first game comprises a game of chance.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining that a mobile device associated with the user is paired with a gaming device on which the first game is played by the user; and

providing the mobile device with a message that identifies the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the new lottery number comprises a randomly-generated number.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the new lottery number comprises a number selected by the user.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the new lottery number is determined based on an outcome for the first game.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

conducting the drawing of the lottery game to produce a winning set of numbers;

comparing, at the processor, the winning set of numbers with the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number;

determining, at the processor and based on the comparison, that the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number matches the winning set of numbers;

generating, at the processor, a message that indicates the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number matches the winning set of numbers; and

sending the message to a mobile device associated with the user.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first game comprises a slot game, wherein the new lottery number comprises an output of the slot game, and wherein the new lottery number is awarded with an expiration time that coincides with execution of the drawing of the lottery game.

11 . A server, comprising:

a communication interface connectable with a communication network;

a processor coupled with the communication interface; and

a computer-readable storage medium, coupled with the processor, comprising instructions that are executable by the processor, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, enable the processor to:

receive, via the communication interface, an indication that a user has redeemed a new lottery number for a lottery game based on an outcome of a first game;

determine the user already comprises an entry for a drawing of the lottery game with a set of numbers;

determine that the drawing has yet to occur; and

in response to determining that the drawing has yet to occur, update the set of numbers for the user's entry to include the new lottery number.

12 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further enable the processor to:

provide a notification to the user that the set of numbers for the user's entry has been updated to include the new lottery number.

13 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further enable the processor to:

execute the drawing of the lottery game to produce a winning set of numbers for the lottery game;

compare the winning set of numbers with the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number;

determine, based on the comparison, that the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number matches at least one of the winning set of numbers;

generate a message that indicates the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number matches at least one of the winning set of numbers; and

send the message to a mobile device associated with the user.

14 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further enable the processor to:

identify a mobile device associated with the user;

generate a message indicating that the user is a winner of drawing of the lottery game with the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number; and

transmit the message to the mobile device.

15 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further enable the processor to:

clear an association between the user and the set of lottery numbers inclusive of the lottery number from memory after the drawing of the lottery game has occurred.

16 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further enable the processor to:

transmit a message to a gaming device on which the first game is being played that cause the gaming device to print a physical lottery ticket that identifies the set of lottery numbers inclusive of the lottery number.

17 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the first game comprises at least one of a game of chance and a game of skill.

18 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the first game comprises a slot game and wherein the new lottery number is assigned with an expiration time that coincides with the drawing of the lottery game.

19 . A method of facilitating a lottery game, comprising:

executing, with a processor, instructions for a lottery game;

receiving, from a gaming device at the processor, an indication that a user has redeemed a new lottery number for the lottery game based on an outcome of a game being played at the gaming device;

determining, with the processor, the user already comprises an entry for a drawing of the lottery game with a set of numbers;

determining, with the processor, that the drawing has yet to occur;

in response to determining that the drawing has yet to occur, updating, with the processor, the set of numbers for the user's entry to include the new lottery number; and

storing the set of numbers inclusive of the new lottery number as part of the user's entry in the drawing of the lottery game.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the game comprises a slot game, wherein the new lottery number is determined, at least in part, based on an outcome of the slot game, the method further comprising:

providing a notification to the user that the set of numbers for the user's entry has been updated to include the new lottery number.
