Abstract

A wireless device receives one or more configuration parameters indicating one or more radio network temporary identifiers (RNTIs) to monitor, via downlink control channels, during an active time of DRX operation. The wireless device selects, for transmission of a message-A of a random access procedure, one or more resources, where the message-A comprises a preamble and a payload and the payload comprises a C-RNTI. The wireless device starts a response window based on transmitting the preamble via at least one resource of the one or more resources. Based on dropping transmission of the payload and during the response window, the wireless device monitors the downlink control channels for a first RNTI, where the first RNTI is associated with a response to the preamble and determined based on the at least one resource, and does not monitor the downlink control channels for the one or more RNTIs.

Claims (66)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, one or more configuration parameters indicating one or more radio network temporary identifiers (RNTIs) to monitor for, via downlink control channels, during an active time of discontinuous reception (DRX) operation, wherein the one or more RNTIs comprise a cell RNTI (C-RNTI);

selecting, for transmission of a message A (MsgA) of a random access (RA) procedure, one or more resources, wherein:

the MsgA comprises a preamble and a payload; and

the payload comprises the C-RNTI;

starting a response window based on transmitting, for the RA procedure, the preamble via at least one resource of the one or more resources; and

based on dropping transmission of the payload:

monitoring, during the response window, the downlink control channels for both a power saving RNTI (PS-RNTI) and a first RNTI, wherein the first RNTI is associated with a response to the preamble and determined based on the at least one resource; and

not monitoring, during the response window, the downlink control channels for the one or more RNTIs.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the response window occurs outside of the active time of the DRX operation.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the RA procedure is a two-step RA procedure;

the first RNTI is a message B RNTI (MSGB-RNTI); and

the response window is a message B response window.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the one or more resources comprise a valid physical random access channel (PRACH) resource and a physical downlink shared channel (PUSCH) resource mapped to the valid PRACH resource; and

a start of the response window is from at least one symbol after a last symbol of the PUSCH resource.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the transmission is dropped in response to:

the PUSCH resource being invalid; and

the transmission of the payload being canceled.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein not monitoring comprises not decoding the downlink control channels for the one or more RNTIs.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising not starting a DRX inactivity timer of a DRX group based on receiving a PDCCH, during the response window, indicating a new downlink transmission.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wireless device:

communicates with a base station via a non-terrestrial network (NTN); and/or

is in a radio resource control (RRC) connected state.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising delaying the start of the response window by a first offset, wherein the first offset is based on a propagation delay between the wireless device and a base station.

10 . A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive one or more configuration parameters indicating one or more radio network temporary identifiers (RNTIs) to monitor for, via downlink control channels, during an active time of discontinuous reception (DRX) operation, wherein the one or more RNTIs comprise a cell RNTI (C-RNTI);

select, for transmission of a message A (MsgA) of a random access (RA) procedure, one or more resources, wherein:

the MsgA comprises a preamble and a payload; and

the payload comprises the C-RNTI;

start a response window based on transmitting, for the RA procedure, the preamble via at least one resource of the one or more resources; and

based on dropping transmission of the payload:

monitor, during the response window, the downlink control channels for both a power saving RNTI (PS-RNTI) and a first RNTI, wherein the first RNTI is associated with a response to the preamble and determined based on the at least one resource; and

not monitor, during the response window, the downlink control channels for the one or more RNTIs.

11 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the response window occurs outside of the active time of the DRX operation.

12 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein:

the RA procedure is a two-step RA procedure;

the first RNTI is a message B RNTI (MSGB-RNTI); and

the response window is a message B response window.

13 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein:

the one or more resources comprise a valid physical random access channel (PRACH) resource and a physical downlink shared channel (PUSCH) resource mapped to the valid PRACH resource; and

a start of the response window is from at least one symbol after a last symbol of the PUSCH resource.

14 . The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the transmission is dropped in response to:

the PUSCH resource being invalid; and

the transmission of the payload being canceled.

15 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein not monitoring comprises not decoding the downlink control channels for the one or more RNTIs.

16 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to not start a DRX inactivity timer of a DRX group based on receiving a PDCCH, during the response window, indicating a new downlink transmission.

17 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the wireless device:

communicates with a base station via a non-terrestrial network (NTN); and/or

is in a radio resource control (RRC) connected state.

18 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a wireless device, cause the wireless device to:

receive one or more configuration parameters indicating one or more radio network temporary identifiers (RNTIs) to monitor for, via downlink control channels, during an active time of discontinuous reception (DRX) operation, wherein the one or more RNTIs comprise a cell RNTI (C-RNTI);

select, for transmission of a message A (MsgA) of a random access (RA) procedure, one or more resources, wherein:

the MsgA comprises a preamble and a payload; and

the payload comprises the C-RNTI;

start a response window based on transmitting, for the RA procedure, the preamble via at least one resource of the one or more resources; and
