7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising, upon each instance of connecting the one of the plurality of excimer laser probes to the excimer laser source, correlating, by the processor, the data with calibration data stored in a local or remote database, wherein the determining of the laser energy output level is based on the correlating of the data with the calibration data.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the calibration data comprises a range of possible diameters of the plurality of excimer laser probes and a range of corresponding laser energy output levels for each of the range of possible diameters.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the calibration data comprises a plurality of sets of values, wherein each set of values comprises a desired laser energy output level and a corresponding diameter of the fiber optic core.

10. The method of claim 6 , wherein while the one of the plurality of excimer laser probes emits the energy from the excimer laser source, the method further comprises performing a laser trabeculostomy on an eye of a patient.

11. The method of claim 6 , wherein while the one of the plurality of excimer laser probes emits the energy from the excimer laser source, the method further comprises automatically adjusting, by the processor, the laser energy output level to maintain a desired laser energy output level.

12. The method of claim 6 , wherein the data is received at the processor from the one of the plurality of excimer laser probes coupled to the excimer laser source prior to providing an operator with control over the excimer laser source.
