Abstract

An antenna that enables dense packing of radiators includes a plurality of first radiators configured to radiate in a first frequency band and a plurality of second radiators configured to radiate in a second frequency band, the second frequency band having higher frequencies than the first frequency band. each of the plurality of first radiators includes a plurality of dipole arms. Each of the plurality of dipole arms includes a periodic pattern of inductive choke segments, and each of the dipole arms has a broken peripheral current path.

Claims (20)

1. An antenna, comprising:

a plurality of first radiators configured to radiate in a first frequency band; and

a plurality of second radiators configured to radiate in a second frequency band, the second frequency band having higher frequencies than the first frequency band,

wherein each of the plurality of first radiators includes a plurality of dipole arms, wherein each of the plurality of dipole arms includes a periodic pattern of capacitive choke elements and inductive choke segments, and wherein each of the dipole arms has a peripheral current path interrupted by the periodic pattern.

2. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the first frequency band comprises a low band.

3. The antenna of claim 2 , wherein the second frequency band comprises a mid band.

4. The antenna of claim 2 , further comprising a plurality of C-Band radiators.

5. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of first radiators are arranged in one or more first columns and the plurality of second radiators are arranged in a plurality of second columns, wherein the one or more first columns and the plurality of second columns are parallel.

6. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein each of the dipole arms comprises aluminum.

7. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the periodic pattern is an alternating pattern of one of said capacitive choke elements and one of said inductive choke segments.

8. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the capacitive choke elements are two-dimensional.

9. The antenna of claim 8 , wherein the capacitive choke elements are a rectangle of stamped metal.

10. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the inductive choke segments are two-dimensional.

11. The antenna of claim 10 , wherein the inductive choke segments are a protrusion of stamped metal.

12. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the dipole arms comprise stamped metal such that each dipole arm comprises a two-dimensional structure without layering of components.

13. The antenna of claim 1 , wherein the dipole arms comprise a pattern printed on a circuit board without layering components other than a printed trace on the circuit board.

14. The antenna of claim 1 , further comprising a passive radiator.

15. The antenna of claim 14 , wherein the passive radiator is above the plurality of first radiators.

16. The antenna of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of third radiators configured to radiate in third frequency band having frequencies between the first frequency band and the second frequency band.

17. The antenna of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of third radiators configured to radiate in third frequency band having frequencies lower than the first frequency band and the second frequency band.
