Abstract

To reduce size increase, an impact tool includes a motor, a spindle located frontward from the motor and rotatable by the motor, a hammer supported by the spindle, an anvil strikable by the hammer in a rotation direction and having an insertion hole extending rearward from a front end of the anvil, a locking member supported by the anvil and movable to a locking position for locking a tip tool placed in the insertion hole and to an unlocking position for unlocking the tip tool, and a bit sleeve surrounding the anvil. The bit sleeve is movable to a movement-restricting position for restricting radially outward movement of the locking member and to a movement-permitting position for permitting radially outward movement of the locking member. The bit sleeve is at least partly between the hammer and the anvil in a radial direction.

Claims (62)

1. An impact tool, comprising:

a motor;

a spindle located frontward from the motor and rotatable by the motor;

a hammer supported by the spindle;

an anvil strikable by the hammer in a rotation direction, the anvil having an insertion hole extending rearward from a front end of the anvil;

a locking member supported by the anvil and movable to a locking position for locking a tip tool placed in the insertion hole and to an unlocking position for unlocking the tip tool; and

a bit sleeve surrounding the anvil, the bit sleeve being movable to a movement-restricting position for restricting radially outward movement of the locking member and to a movement-permitting position for permitting radially outward movement of the locking member, the bit sleeve being at least partly between the hammer and the anvil in a radial direction.

2. The impact tool according to claim 1 , wherein

the hammer and the locking member overlap each other in an axial direction.

3. The impact tool according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a bearing supporting the anvil in a rotatable manner,

wherein the bit sleeve is located rearward from the bearing.

4. An impact tool, comprising:

a motor;

a spindle located frontward from the motor and rotatable by the motor;

a hammer supported by the spindle;

an anvil strikable by the hammer in a rotation direction, the anvil having an insertion hole extending rearward from a front end of the anvil;

a bearing supporting the anvil in a rotatable manner;

a locking member supported by the anvil and movable to a locking position for locking a tip tool placed in the insertion hole and to an unlocking position for unlocking the tip tool;

a bit sleeve surrounding the anvil, the bit sleeve being movable to a movement-restricting position for restricting radially outward movement of the locking member and to a movement-permitting position for permitting radially outward movement of the locking member, the bit sleeve being located rearward from the bearing; and

a hammer case holding the bearing,

wherein the bit sleeve is accommodated rearward of the bearing in the hammer case.

5. The impact tool according to claim 3 , wherein

the locking member is located rearward from the bearing.

6. The impact tool according to claim 4 , wherein

the hammer case accommodates at least a part of the anvil.

7. The impact tool according to claim 4 , wherein

the locking member is accommodated in the hammer case.

8. The impact tool according to claim 4 , further comprising:

an operable member operable to move the bit sleeve; and

a transmission configured to transmit a force applied to the operable member to the bit sleeve,

wherein the operable member is located outside the hammer case.

9. The impact tool according to claim 1 , wherein

the anvil has a support recess on an outer surface of the anvil,

the locking member includes a ball supported in the support recess,

the anvil has a through-hole connecting an inner surface of the support recess to an inner surface of the insertion hole,

the locking member is at least partly receivable in a groove on a side surface of the tip tool through the through-hole to lock the tip tool, and

the locking position includes a position at which the locking member is at least partly received in the groove.

10. The impact tool according to claim 2 , further comprising:

a bearing supporting the anvil in a rotatable manner,

wherein the bit sleeve is located rearward from the bearing.

11. The impact tool according to claim 4 , wherein

the locking member is located rearward from the bearing.

12. The impact tool according to claim 5 , further comprising:

a hammer case holding the bearing,

wherein the bit sleeve is accommodated in the hammer case.

13. The impact tool according to claim 6 , wherein

the locking member is accommodated in the hammer case.

14. The impact tool according to claim 6 , further comprising:

an operable member operable to move the bit sleeve; and

a transmission configured to transmit a force applied to the operable member to the bit sleeve,

wherein the operable member is located outside the hammer case.

15. The impact tool according to claim 7 , further comprising:

an operable member operable to move the bit sleeve; and

a transmission configured to transmit a force applied to the operable member to the bit sleeve,

wherein the operable member is located outside the hammer case.

16. The impact tool according to claim 2 , wherein

the anvil has a support recess on an outer surface of the anvil,

the locking member includes a ball supported in the support recess,

the anvil has a through-hole connecting an inner surface of the support recess to an inner surface of the insertion hole,

the locking member is at least partly receivable in a groove on a side surface of the tip tool through the through-hole to lock the tip tool, and

the locking position includes a position at which the locking member is at least partly received in the groove.
