Abstract

A method for reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level northbound Stats reporting microservice (MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), the method including receiving, by a Performance Management (PM) MS from at least one other MS of the NF, performance data for the PM MS; processing, by the PM MS, the received performance data; obtaining, by the Stats reporting MS, the processed performance data; and reporting, from the Stats reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed performance data.

Claims (56)

1. A method of reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level northbound Statistics reporting microservice (Stats reporting MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), performed by at least one processor implementing the NF, the method comprising:

receiving, by a Performance Management (PM) MS in the NF from at least one other MS in the NF, performance data of the NF;

processing, by the PM MS, the received performance data;

obtaining, by the Stats reporting MS, the processed performance data; and

reporting, from the Stats reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed performance data,

wherein the NF is a centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of a mobile telecommunications network.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing, by the PM MS, the received performance data in a persistent storage.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing, by the PM MS, the processed performance data in a persistent storage,

wherein the obtaining the processed performance data comprises obtaining, by the Stats reporting MS, the processed performance data received from the PM MS or read from the persistent storage.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the processing comprises:

aggregating and/or encoding, by the PM MS, the received performance data.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

updating, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed performance data.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the performance data comprises information on at least one performance statistic or counter.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

updating, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data after reporting the processed performance data to the NBMS, and

updating, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound status of the processed performance data, based on receipt of acknowledgement from the NBMS.

8. A system for reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level Northbound Statistics reporting microservice (Stats reporting MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), the system comprising:

at least one memory storing instructions; and

at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to:

receive, by a Performance Management (PM) MS in the NF from at least one other MS in the NF, performance data of the NF;

process, by the PM MS, the received performance data;

obtain, by the Stats reporting MS, the processed performance data; and

report, from the Stats reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed performance data,

wherein the NF is a centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of a mobile telecommunications network.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

store, by the PM MS, the received performance data in a persistent storage.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

store, by the PM MS, the processed performance data in a persistent storage; and

obtain, by the Stats reporting MS, the processed performance data received from the PM MS or read from the persistent storage.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to process the received performance data by aggregating and/or encoding the received performance data.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

update, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed performance data.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the performance data comprises information on at least one performance statistic or counter.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

update, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data after reporting the processed performance data to the NBMS, and

update, by the Stats reporting MS, the northbound reporting status of the processed performance data, based on receipt of acknowledgement from the NBMS.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon instructions executable by at least one processor to perform a method for reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level Statistics reporting microservice (Stats reporting MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), the method comprising:

receiving, by a Performance Management microservice (PM MS) in the NF from at least one other MS in the NF, performance data of the NF;

processing, by the PM MS, the received performance data;

obtaining, by the Stats reporting MS, the processed performance data; and

reporting, from the Stats reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed performance data,

wherein the NF is a centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of a mobile telecommunications network.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

storing, by the PM MS, the received performance data in a persistent storage; and

storing, by the PM MS, the processed performance data in the persistent storage.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the processing comprises:

aggregating and/or encoding, by the PM MS, the received performance data.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

updating, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed performance data.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the performance data comprises at least one performance statistic or counter.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

updating, by the Stats reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed performance data after reporting the processed performance data to the NBMS, and

updating, by the Stats reporting MS, the northbound reporting status of the processed performance data based on receipt of acknowledgement from the NBMS.
