Abstract

A method for reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level Northbound FCAPS Reporting Microservice (MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), the method including receiving, by a first microservice (MS) from at least one other MS of the NF, data, the first MS being one of a Fault Management (FM) MS and a Performance Management (PM) MS and the data comprising performance data for the PM MS or event data for the FM MS; processing, by the first MS, the received data; obtaining, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the processed data; and reporting, from the FCAPS Reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed data.

Claims (56)

1. A method of reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level northbound fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security (FCAPS) Reporting Microservice (MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), performed by at least one processor implementing the NF, the method comprising:

receiving, by a first microservice (MS) from at least one other MS of the NF, data, the first MS being one of a Fault Management (FM) MS and a Performance Management (PM) MS and the data comprising performance data for the PM MS or event data for the FM MS;

processing, by the first MS, the received data;

obtaining, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the processed data; and

reporting, from the FCAPS Reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed data,

wherein the NF is a centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of a mobile telecommunications network.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing, by the first MS, the received data in a persistent storage.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing, by the first MS, the processed data in a persistent storage,

wherein the obtaining the processed data comprises obtaining, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the processed data received from the first MS or read from the persistent storage.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the processing comprises:

enriching or aggregating, by the first MS, the received data.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

updating, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the event data comprises information on at least one fault or error event and wherein the performance data comprises at least one performance statistic or counter.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

updating, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data after reporting the processed data to the NBMS, and

updating, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the northbound reporting status of the processed data, based on receipt of acknowledgement from the NBMS.

8. A system for reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level Northbound FCAPS Reporting Microservice (MS) in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), the system comprising:

at least one memory storing instructions; and

at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to:

receive, by a first microservice (MS) from at least one other MS of the NF, data, the first MS being one of a Fault Management (FM) MS and a Performance Management (PM) MS and the data comprising performance data for the PM MS or event data for the FM MS;

process, by the first MS, the received data;

obtain, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the processed data; and

report, from the FCAPS Reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed data,

wherein the NF is a centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of a mobile telecommunications network.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

store, by the first MS, the received data in a persistent storage.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

store, by the first MS, the processed data in a persistent storage; and

obtain, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the processed data received from the first MS or read from the persistent storage.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to process the received data by enriching and/or aggregating the received data.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

update, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the event data comprises information on at least one fault or error event and wherein the performance data comprises at least one performance statistic or counter.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the instructions to:

update, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data after reporting the processed data to the NBMS, and

update, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the northbound reporting status of the processed data, based on receipt of acknowledgement from the NBMS.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon instructions executable by at least one processor to perform a method for reporting data to a Northbound Management System (NBMS) via a Network Function (NF) level FCAPS Reporting MS in an NF of a Radio Access Network (RAN), the method comprising:

receiving, by a first microservice (MS) from at least one other MS of the NF, data, the first MS being one of a Fault Management (FM) MS and a Performance Management (PM) MS and the data comprising performance data for the PM MS or event data for the FM MS;

processing, by the first MS, the received data;

obtaining, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the processed data; and

reporting, from the FCAPS Reporting MS to the NBMS, the processed data,

wherein the NF is a centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of a mobile telecommunications network.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

storing, by the first MS, the received data in a persistent storage; and

storing, by the first MS, the processed data in the persistent storage.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the processing comprises:

enriching or aggregating, by the first MS, the received data.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

updating, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the event data comprises information on at least one fault or error event and wherein the performance data comprises at least one performance statistic or counter.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

updating, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, a northbound reporting status of the processed data after reporting the processed data to the NBMS, and

updating, by the FCAPS Reporting MS, the northbound reporting status of the processed data, based on receipt of acknowledgement from the NBMS.
