Abstract

The disclosure relates to a 5 th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate than a 4 th generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). According to various embodiments, there is provided an operating method of an application function (AF) in a wireless communication system that includes: transmitting, to a network exposure function (NEF), a Nnef_EventExposure_Subscribe message including an address of a user equipment (UE) to request a subscription of a user plane function (UPF) event exposure service for the UE; and receiving, from the NEF, a Nnef_EventExposure_Notify message including information on the UPF event exposure service for the UE.

Claims (42)

1 . An operating method of a policy control function (PCF) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, from a session management function (SMF), a Npcf_SMPolicyControl_Update request message including information on a user plane function (UPF);

transmitting, to the SMF, a Npcf_SMPolicyControl_Update response message;

transmitting, to a binding support function (BSF), a Nbsf_Management_Register request message including at least one of one or more user equipment (UE) addresses, one or more PCF addresses, a data network name (DNN), single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) or the information on the UPF; and

receiving, from the BSF, a Nbsf_Management_Register response message.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the Nbsf_Management_Register message further includes subscription permanent identifier (SUPI).

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the Nbsf_Management_Register message further includes at least one of a generic public subscription identifier (GPSI), a PCF ID or a PCF Set ID.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information on the UPF includes an UPF ID and an UPF address.

5 . An operating method of a binding support function (BSF) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, from a policy control function (PCF), a Nbsf_Management_Register request message including at least one of one or more user equipment (UE) addresses, one or more PCF addresses, a data network name (DNN), single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) or the information on a user plane function (UPF);

transmitting, to the PCF, a Nbsf_Management_Register response message;

receiving, from a network exposure function (NEF), a request message including a UE address to find the UPF to subscribe to receive information reporting an event for a UE specific service flow;

transmitting, to the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe message to subscribe an event exposure service; and

receiving, from the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe response message.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe message includes a UE address.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe response message includes at least one of a subscription correlation ID or an expiry time.

8 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

transmitting, to the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_UnSubscribe message to unsubscribe the event exposure service; and

receiving, from the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_UnSubscribe response message.

9 . A policy control function (PCF) in a wireless communication system, the PCF comprising:

a transceiver; and

at least one processor operably coupled to the transceiver, and configured to:

receive, from a session management function (SMF), a Npcf_SMPolicyControl_Update request message including information on a user plane function (UPF),

transmit, to the SMF, a Npcf_SMPolicyControl_Update response message,

transmit, to a binding support function (BSF), a Nbsf_Management_Register request message including at least one of one or more user equipment (UE) addresses, one or more PCF addresses, a data network name (DNN), single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) or the information on the UPF, and

receive, from the B SF, a Nbsf_Management_Register response message.

10 . The PCF of claim 9 , wherein the Nbsf_Management_Register message further includes subscription permanent identifier (SUPI).

11 . The PCF of claim 9 , wherein the Nbsf_Management_Register message further includes at least one of a generic public subscription identifier (GPSI), a PCF ID or a PCF Set ID.

12 . The PCF of claim 9 , wherein the information on the UPF includes an UPF ID and an UPF address.

13 . A binding support function (BSF) in a wireless communication system, the B SF comprising:

a transceiver; and

at least one processor operably coupled to the transceiver, and configured to:

receive, from a policy control function (PCF), a Nbsf_Management_Register request message including at least one of one or more user equipment (UE) addresses, one or more PCF addresses, a data network name (DNN), single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) or the information on a user plane function (UPF),

transmit, to the PCF, a Nbsf_Management_Register response message,

receive, from a network exposure function (NEF), a request message including a UE address to find the UPF to subscribe to receive information reporting an event for a UE specific service flow,

transmit, to the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe message to subscribe an event exposure service, and

receive, from the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe response message.

14 . The BSF of claim 13 , wherein the Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe message includes a UE address.

15 . The B SF of claim 13 , wherein the Nupf_EventExposure_Subscribe response message includes at least one of a subscription correlation ID or an expiry time.

16 . The BSF of claim 13 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

transmit, to the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_UnSubscribe message to unsubscribe the event exposure service, and

receive, from the UPF, a Nupf_EventExposure_UnSubscribe response message.
