Abstract

Gaming systems and methods of operating such gaming systems that provide different award modifiers that are player selectable for a plurality of potential plays of a game of a game play sequence. Unless the game play sequence is ended, for each of the plays of the game in the game play sequence, the player can select the available award modifier for that game play; however, after one of the different award modifiers is employed by the player for a play of the game in the game play sequence, the gaming system ends the game play sequence and thus does not provide any further award modifiers or remaining potential plays of the game of that game play sequence.

Claims (80)

1 . A gaming system comprising:

a housing comprising an openable access door;

a security monitoring circuit within the housing and configured to monitor the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;

a power distribution component within the housing;

a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing and a speaker supported by the housing;

a plurality of input devices supported by the housing, said input devices comprising a touch screen coupled to the display device, a bill acceptor supported by the housing, a validator supported by the housing, a player tracking card reader supported by the housing, and a cash-out button supported by the housing;

a sound card within the housing and operable with the speaker;

a processor within the housing; and

a trusted memory device supported by the housing and configured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing instructions that, when executed by the processor,

cause the processor, for a play of a poker game of a game play sequence comprising a plurality of potential plays of the poker game, to:

cause a display, by the display device, of an initial hand of cards for the play of the poker game;

cause a display, by the display device, of an award modifier available to be applied by a player to the play of the poker game;

after a receipt of a player input, via one of the input devices, to apply the award modifier to the play of the poker game:

cause a display, by the display device, of a completed hand for the play of the poker game,

cause a display, by the display device, of a total award for the play of the game, the total award based on the completed hand for the play of the poker game and the award modifier for that play of the poker game, and

end the game play sequence without providing any remaining potential plays of the poker game of the game play sequence; and

after no player input, via any of the input devices, to apply the award modifier to the play of the poker game:

cause a display, by the display device, of the completed hand for the play of the poker game,

cause a display, by the display device, of a total award for the play of the game, the total award based on the completed hand for the play of the poker game without using the award modifier for that play of the poker game, and

provide a next one of the plurality of potential plays of the poker game of the game play sequence with a different award modifier for that next play of the poker game of the game play sequence.

2 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the poker game is a multi-hand poker game.

3 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the award modifier is an award multiplier.

4 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to automatically apply the award modifier to a last of the plurality of potential plays of the poker game of the game play sequence.

5 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of potential plays of the poker game of the game play sequence comprises a predetermined first quantity of potential plays of the poker game and a predetermined second quantity of award modifiers.

6 . The gaming system of claim 5 , wherein the predetermined first quantity and the predetermined second quantity are a same quantity.

7 . The gaming system of claim 6 , wherein the award modifiers are each different.

8 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the award modifiers are non-linearly increased for at least two of the potential plays of the poker game of the game play sequence.

9 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to randomly determine when to provide the game play sequence.

10 . A gaming system comprising:

a housing comprising an openable access door;

a security monitoring circuit within the housing and configured to monitor the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;

a power distribution component within the housing;

a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing and a speaker supported by the housing;

a plurality of input devices supported by the housing, said input devices comprising a touch screen coupled to the display device, a bill acceptor supported by the housing, a validator supported by the housing, a player tracking card reader supported by the housing, and a cash-out button supported by the housing;

a sound card within the housing and operable with the speaker;

a processor within the housing; and

a trusted memory device supported by the housing and configured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing instructions that, when executed by the processor,

cause the processor, for each of a plurality of plays of a poker game of a game play sequence, to:

cause a display, by the display device, of an initial hand of cards for the play of the poker game;

cause a display, by the display device, of an award multiplier available to be applied to the play of the poker game;

responsive to either a determination based on a receipt of a player input, via one of the input devices, to apply the award multiplier to the play of the poker game or to a determination that the play of the poker game is a last one of the plurality of plays of the poker game for the game play sequence:

cause a display, by the display device, of a completed hand for the play of the poker game,

cause a display, by the display device, of a total award for the play of the game, the total award based on the completed hand for the play of the poker game and the award multiplier for that play of the poker game, and

end the game play sequence without providing any remaining plays of the poker game of the game play sequence; and

responsive to no determination to apply the award multiplier to the play of the poker game:

cause a display, by the display device, of a completed hand for the play of the poker game,

cause a display, by the display device, of a total award for the play of the game, the total award based on the completed hand for the play of the poker game without using the award multiplier for that play of the poker game, and

provide a remaining one of the plurality of plays of the poker game of the game play sequence with an increased award multiplier for the next play of the poker game of the game play sequence.

11 . The gaming system of claim 10 , wherein the poker game is a multi-hand poker game.

12 . The gaming system of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of plays of the poker game of the game play sequence comprises a predetermined first quantity of plays of the poker game and a predetermined second quantity of award multipliers.

13 . The gaming system of claim 12 , wherein the predetermined first quantity and the predetermined second quantity are a same quantity.

14 . The gaming system of claim 13 , wherein the award multipliers are each different.

a housing comprising an openable access door;

a security monitoring circuit within the housing and configured to monitor the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;

a power distribution component within the housing;

a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing and a speaker supported by the housing;

a plurality of input devices supported by the housing, said input devices comprising a touch screen coupled to the display device, a bill acceptor supported by the housing, a validator supported by the housing, a player tracking card reader supported by the housing, and a cash-out button supported by the housing;

a sound card within the housing and operable with the speaker;

a processor within the housing; and

a trusted memory device supported by the housing and configured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing instructions that, when executed by the processor,

a processor; and

cause the processor, to:

cause a display, by the display device, of a first quantity of different award multipliers available to be respectively applied to a second quantity of plays of a poker game of a game play sequence;

unless the game play sequence has ended and except for a last play of the second quantity of plays of the poker game of the game play sequence, for each play of the poker game of the game play sequence:
