Abstract

Methods and apparatus provide for communications between an information processing device operated by a first user, which is connected via a network to another information processing device operated by a second user, where an application executing on the information processing device and generating an application image on a basis of operation information provided by the first user is transmitted to the other information processing device over the network.

Claims (40)

1. A first information processing device operated by a first user, which is connected via a network to a second information processing device operated by a second user, comprises:

an execution unit, disposed in the first information processing device of the first user, including a first circuity configured to execute an application to:

generate a virtual space having a plurality of objects;

execute the application according to a first operation information provided by the first user to manipulate a first object of the plurality of objects within the virtual space according to a first viewpoint of the virtual space such that the first object moves in the virtual space; and

generate a first application image corresponding to the first viewpoint based at least in part on the first operation information;

a participation processing unit that, while the execution unit executes the application according to the first operation information of the first user to generate the first application image, includes a second circuitry that causes the second user to participate in the application executed by the execution unit of the first user in a participation format that allows both the first user and the second user to provide operation information that affects execution of the application, wherein, after causing the second user to participate in the application, the execution unit:

executes the application according to a second operation information provided by the second user to the second information processing device to manipulate a second object of the plurality of objects within the virtual space according to a second viewpoint of the virtual space such that the second object moves in the virtual space; and

generates a second application image corresponding to the second viewpoint based at least in part on the first operation information and the second operation information, wherein the second application image is different than the first application image; and

a transmission unit that transmits the second application image to the second information processing device of the second user.

2. The first information processing device according to claim 1 , wherein the transmission unit lowers a resolution of the second application image to be transmitted to the second information processing device as compared to a resolution of the first application image to be displayed by the first information processing device.

3. The first information processing device according to claim 1 , wherein the application is not executed on the second information processing device.

4. The first information processing device according to claim 1 , wherein the participation processing unit causes the second user to participate in the application by invitation from the first user to the second user.

5. The first information processing device according to claim 1 , wherein the participation processing unit causes the second user to participate in the application by request to the first user by the second user.

6. A method of communications between a first information processing device operated by a first user, which is connected via a network to second information processing device operated by a second user, the method comprising:

generating, by the first information processing device, a virtual space having a plurality of objects;

executing, by the first information processing device of the first user, an application according to a first operation information provided by the first user to manipulate a first object of the plurality of objects within the virtual space according to a first viewpoint of the virtual space such that the first object moves in the virtual space;

generate, by the first information processing device, a first application image corresponding to the first viewpoint based at least in part on the first operation information ;

causing, by the first information processing device and while the first information processing device executes the application according to the first operation information of the first user to generate the first application image, the second user to participate in the application executed by the first information processing device of the first user in a participation format that allows both the first user and the second user to provide operation information that affects execution of the application;

after causing the second user to participate in the application, executing, by the first information processing device, the application according to a second operation information provided by the second user to the second information processing device to manipulate a second object of the plurality of objects within the virtual space according to a second viewpoint of the virtual space such that the second object moves in the virtual space;

generating, by the first information processing device, a second application image corresponding to the second viewpoint based at least in part on the first operation information and the second operation information, wherein the second application image is different than the first application image; and

transmitting, by the first information processing device to the second information processing device, the second application image.

7. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the transmitting includes lowering a resolution of the second application image to be transmitted to the other second information processing device as compared to a resolution of the first application image to be displayed by the first information processing device.

8. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the application is not executed on the other second information processing device.

9. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the causing includes causing the second user to participate in the application by invitation from the first user to the second user.

10. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the causing includes causing the second user to participate in the application by request to the first user by the second user.

11. A non-transitory, computer readable storage medium containing a computer program, which when executed by one or more computers causes the one or more computers to perform a method of communications between a first information processing device operated by a first user, which is connected via a network to second information processing device operated by a second user, the method comprising:

generating, by the first information processing device, a virtual space having a plurality of objects;

executing, by the first information processing device of the first user, an application according to a first operation information provided by the first user to manipulate a first object of the plurality of objects within the virtual space according to a first viewpoint of the virtual space such that the first object moves in the virtual space; generate, by the first information processing device, a first application image corresponding to the first viewpoint based at least in part on the first operation information;

causing, by the first information processing device and while the first information processing device executes the application according to the first operation information of the first user to generate the first application image, the second user to participate in the application executed by the first information processing device of the first user in a participation format that allows both the first user and the second user to provide operation information that affects execution of the application;

after causing the second user to participate in the application, executing, by the first information processing device, the application according to a second operation information provided by the second user to the second information processing device to manipulate a second object of the plurality of objects within the virtual space according to a second viewpoint of the virtual space such that the second object moves in the virtual space;

generating, by the first information processing device, a second application image corresponding to the second viewpoint based at least in part on the first operation information and the second operation information, wherein the second application image is different than the first application image; and

transmitting, by the first information processing device to the second information processing device, the second application image.

12. The non-transitory, computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the transmitting includes lowering a resolution of the second application image to be transmitted to the second information processing device as compared to a resolution of the first application image to be displayed by the first information processing device.

13. The non-transitory, computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the application is not executed on the second information processing device.

14. The non-transitory, computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the causing includes causing the second user to participate in the application by invitation from the first user to the second user.

15. The non-transitory, computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the causing includes causing the second user to participate in the application by request to the first user by the second user.

16. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the first viewpoint and the second viewpoint are different perspectives of the virtual space.

17. The method according to claim 6 , wherein:

executing the application according to the first operation includes executing the application according to the first operation to manipulate the first object independent from operation information provided by the second user; and

executing the application according to the second operation includes executing the application according to the second operation to manipulate the second object independent from operation information provided by the first user.
