Abstract

Techniques are described for identifying resources within a region of a cloud-computing environment. A Resource Identification Service (RIS) may be configured to obtain a flock configuration file comprising resource discovery data associated with a service. The resource discovery data may indicate a set of parameters with which a previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified. RIS may execute operations to identify the previously existing resource based at least in part on matching attributes associated with previously existing resource to the set of parameters of the resource discovery data. The RIS may identify, from the flock configuration file, a set of import operations to perform to obtain an identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource. The identifier may be provided to cause the previously existing resource to be utilized in a region build.

Claims (47)

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

obtaining, by a resource identification service of a cloud-computing environment, a configuration file comprising resource discovery data associated with a service, the resource discovery data indicating a set of parameters with which a previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified;

executing, by the resource identification service, operations to identify the previously existing resource, the previously existing resource being identified based at least in part on matching attributes associated with the previously existing resource to the set of parameters of the resource discovery data;

identifying, by the resource identification service, a set of import operations to perform to obtain an identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource; and

transmitting the identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource identified based at least in part on executing the set of import operations.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the set of parameters comprises at least one of: a location to be searched for the previously existing resource or a value corresponding to an attribute of the previously existing resource.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource is transmitted to an orchestration service of the cloud-computing environment, and wherein transmitting the identifier to the orchestration service of the cloud-computing environment causes the previously existing resource to be utilized in a data center in lieu of generating a new resource.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the previously existing resource includes at least one of: an infrastructure component, data, or an application.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the set of import operations are identified from the configuration file.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining, by the resource identification service from the resource discovery data, a second set of parameters with which a second previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified;

executing, by the resource identification service, additional operations to identify the second previously existing resource, the second previously existing resource being identified based at least in part on matching attributes associated with the second previously existing resource to the second set of parameters of the resource discovery data;

identifying, by the resource identification service, a second set of import operations to perform to obtain a second identifier corresponding to the second previously existing resource; and

providing, to a computing component, the second identifier corresponding to the second previously existing resource identified based at least in part on executing the second set of import operations.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

executing the set of import operations, wherein executing the set of import operations causes the resource identification service to identify an address corresponding to a location of the previously existing resource or the identifier for the previously existing resource.

8. A computing device of a cloud-computing environment, comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more memories storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause a resource identification service of the cloud-computing environment to:

obtain a configuration file comprising resource discovery data associated with a service, the resource discovery data indicating a set of parameters with which a previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified;

execute operations to identify the previously existing resource, the previously existing resource being identified based at least in part on matching attributes associated with the previously existing resource to the set of parameters of the resource discovery data;

identify a set of import operations to perform to obtain an identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource; and

transmit the identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource identified based at least in part on executing the set of import operations.

9. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the set of parameters comprises at least one of: a location to be searched for the previously existing resource or a value corresponding to an attribute of the previously existing resource.

10. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource is transmitted to an orchestration service of the cloud-computing environment, and wherein transmitting the identifier to the orchestration service of the cloud-computing environment causes the previously existing resource to be utilized in a data center in lieu of generating a new resource.

11. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the previously existing resource includes at least one of: an infrastructure component, data, or an application.

12. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the set of import operations are identified from the configuration file.

13. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein executing the operations further causes the resource identification service to:

obtain, from the resource discovery data, a second set of parameters with which a second previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified;

execute additional operations to identify the second previously existing resource, the second previously existing resource being identified based at least in part on matching attributes associated with the second previously existing resource to the second set of parameters of the resource discovery data;

identify a second set of import operations to perform to obtain a second identifier corresponding to the second previously existing resource; and

transmit the second identifier corresponding to the second previously existing resource identified based at least in part on executing the second set of import operations.

14. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein executing the operations further causes the resource identification service to execute the set of import operations, wherein executing the set of import operations causes the resource identification service to identify an address corresponding to a location of the previously existing resource or the identifier for the previously existing resource.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause a resource identification service of a cloud-computing environment to:

obtain a configuration file comprising resource discovery data associated with a service, the resource discovery data indicating a set of parameters with which a previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified;

execute operations to identify the previously existing resource, the previously existing resource being identified based at least in part on matching attributes associated with the previously existing resource to the set of parameters of the resource discovery data;

identify a set of import operations to perform to obtain an identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource; and

transmit the identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource identified based at least in part on executing the set of import operations.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the set of parameters comprises at least one of: a location to be searched for the previously existing resource or a value corresponding to an attribute of the previously existing resource.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the identifier corresponding to the previously existing resource is transmitted to an orchestration service of the cloud-computing environment, and wherein transmitting the identifier to the orchestration service of the cloud-computing environment causes the previously existing resource to be utilized in a data center in lieu of generating a new resource.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the set of import operations are identified from the configuration file.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein executing the operations further causes the resource identification service to:

obtain, from the resource discovery data, a second set of parameters with which a second previously existing resource of the cloud-computing environment is to be identified;

execute additional operations to identify the second previously existing resource, the second previously existing resource being identified based at least in part on matching attributes associated with the second previously existing resource to the second set of parameters of the resource discovery data;

identify a second set of import operations to perform to obtain a second identifier corresponding to the second previously existing resource; and

transmit the second identifier corresponding to the second previously existing resource identified based at least in part on executing the second set of import operations.
