Abstract

Systems and methods that enable a first user to place one or more wagers in association with a game being played by a second user and streamed by a live streaming platform.

Claims (38)

1 . An electronic gaming machine comprising:

a display device;

an interface;

a processor; and

a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

during a first period of time of a streaming session when operating as a streaming device:

responsive to an occurrence of a game triggering event, cause the display device to display a play of a first wagering game, and

communicate, via the interface and to a live streaming platform, data associated with the play of the first wagering game, wherein the live streaming platform communicates, at least partially based on the data communicated via the interface, a first live stream of the streaming session to another device operating as a client device, and

during a second, different period of time of the streaming session when operating as the client device, which occurs responsive to a first electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurring independent of any play of any wagering game to modify the electronic gaming machine from operating as the streaming device to operating as the client device, receive, via the interface and from the live streaming platform, data associated with a second live stream of the streaming session at least partially based on data associated with a different play of a second wagering game being displayed at the other device operating as the streaming device.

2 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the interface comprises a communication interface of a slot machine interface board.

3 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the first electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event randomly occurs.

4 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the first electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurs responsive to a receipt of an input from an input device associated with the electronic gaming machine.

5 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , the first wagering game and the second wagering game are different.

6 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that, when executed by the processor during the first period of time during the streaming session when operating as the streaming device, cause the processor to enable an input to set a wagering configuration associated with the other device operating as the client device.

7 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that, when executed by the processor during the first period of time during the streaming session when operating as the streaming device and responsive to an occurrence of an interaction event occurring in association with the first live stream of the streaming session, cause the processor to enable an interaction with the other device operating as the client device.

8 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that, when executed by the processor during a third period of time during the streaming session when operating again as the streaming device, which occurs responsive to a second electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurring independent of any play of any wagering game to modify the electronic gaming machine from operating as the client device to operating as the streaming device, cause the processor to, responsive to another occurrence of the game triggering event, cause the display device to display another play of the first wagering game, and communicate, via the interface and to the live streaming platform, data associated with the other play of the first wagering game.

9 . A live streaming platform server comprising:

a processor; and

a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

during a first period of time of a streaming session:

enable a first wagering device to operate as a streaming device in association with a generation of a first live stream of the streaming session at least partially based on data associated with a play of a first wagering game, and

enable a second wagering device to operate as a client device in association with a viewing of the first live stream of the streaming session, and

during a second, subsequent period of time of the streaming session and responsive to an electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurring independent of any play of any wagering game to modify the electronic gaming machine from operating as the streaming device to operating as the client device:

enable the second wagering device to operate as the streaming device in association with a generation of a second live stream of the streaming session at least partially based on data associated with a different play of a second wagering game, and

enable the first wagering device to operate as the client device in association with a viewing of the second live stream of the streaming session.

10 . The live streaming platform server of claim 9 , wherein at least one of the first wagering device and the second wagering device comprises at least one of an electronic gaming machine and a slot machine interface board.

11 . A method of operating an electronic gaming machine, the method comprising:

during a first period of time of a streaming session when operating as a streaming device:

responsive to an occurrence of a game triggering event, displaying, by a display device, a play of a first wagering game, and

communicating, via an interface and to a live streaming platform, data associated with the play of the first wagering game, wherein the live streaming platform communicates, at least partially based on the data communicated via the interface, a first live stream of the streaming session to another device operating as a client device, and

during a second, different period of time of the streaming session when operating as the client device, which occurs responsive to a first electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurring independent of any play of any wagering game to modify the electronic gaming machine from operating as the streaming device to operating as the client device, receiving, via the interface and from the live streaming platform, data associated with a second live stream of the streaming session at least partially based on data associated with a different play of a second wagering game being displayed at the other device operating as the streaming device.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the interface comprises a communication interface of a slot machine interface board.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event randomly occurs.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurs responsive to a receipt of an input from an input device associated with the electronic gaming machine.

15 . The method of claim 11 , the first wagering game and the second wagering game are different.

16 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, during the first period of time during the streaming session when operating as the streaming device, enabling, by a processor, an input to set a wagering configuration associated with the other device operating as the client device.

17 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, during the first period of time during the streaming session when operating as the streaming device and responsive to an occurrence of an interaction event occurring in association with the first live stream of the streaming session, enabling, by a processor, an interaction with the other device operating as the client device.

18 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, during a third period of time during the streaming session when operating again as the streaming device, which occurs responsive to a second electronic gaming machine streaming session reconfiguration event occurring independent of any play of any wagering game to modify the electronic gaming machine from operating as the client device to operating as the streaming device, responsive to another occurrence of the game triggering event, displaying, by the display device, another play of the first wagering game, and communicating, via the interface and to the live streaming platform, data associated with the other play of the first wagering game.
