Abstract

The present invention relates to nutritional formulations for increasing sports and other physical performance and that have beneficial effects on health and wellness for various populations. The invention includes molecular compounds as disclosed. A preferred embodiment is a molecule type based on a glycerol backbone, with three glycerol functional groups B 1 , B 2 , B 3 , wherein one or more of the B groups may correspond to one of the functional energy groups A 1 , A 2 or A 3 , as disclosed. The invention includes nutritional formulations, some based on the inventive molecular compounds. The invention also includes method of using, administering, and implementing the above, including computer implemented and computer assisted methods.

Claims (36)

1. A molecule, the molecule comprising:

glycerol 1-beta-hydroxy-butyrate 3-lactate as shown, wherein group B 1 is beta-hydroxy-butyrate, group B 2 is H, and group B 3 is lactate:

2. The molecule of claim 1 further comprising an aqueous nutritional formulation for humans or mammals or both.

3. The formulation of claim 2 further comprising a salt of gluconeogenic precursor.

4. The formulation of claim 2 further comprising a salt of lactate.

5. The formulation of claim 4 , wherein the salt of lactate has one or more of the anions: sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium.

6. The formulation of claim 2 further comprising a salt of monocarboxylic compound.

7. The formulation of claim 2 wherein the molarity of the formulation is about 300 to 1000 mM.

8. The formulation of claim 4 , wherein the lactate salt is sodium lactate at a concentration of about 2.5 g/L.

9. The formulation of claim 2 the molecule is at a concentration of about 30 g/L.

10. The formulation of claim 2 wherein the osmolarity of the formulation is less than about 1000 milliequivalents per liter.

11. The formulation of claim 2 wherein the formulation is administered by one or more of the following: intravenously, enterally, or orally.

12. The formulation of claim 2 wherein the formulation is hypertonic.

13. The formulation of claim 2 wherein the formulation is isotonic.

14. The molecule of claim 1 wherein the molecule is in the following stereoisomer configuration:

15. The molecule:

16. An aqueous nutritional formulation for humans and mammals comprising:

a lactate salt; and

a glycerol backbone molecule, glycerol 1-beta-hydroxy-butyrate 3-lactate as shown, wherein group B 1 is beta-hydroxy-butyrate, group B 2 is H, and group B 3 is lactate:

17. The formulation of claim 16 further comprising a nutritional formulation for humans or mammals or both.

18. The formulation of claim 16 further comprising a salt of gluconeogenic precursor.
