Abstract

A method for content delivery to a user device, that helps to reduce bandwidth requirements and increases security of the content. The method includes receiving a download request from the user device, the download request including request data corresponding to characteristics of the user device, analyzing the request data to select a bootstrap module; transmitting the bootstrap module to the user device for download; analyzing an authentication characteristic to determine that the user device is authenticated for content viewing; transmitting a content catalogue to the user device; and upon receiving a user selection of a content item from the content catalogue, transmitting the user selected content item to the user device.

Claims (30)

1 . A method of transmitting a software program to a user device comprising:

receiving a download request for the software program from a user device;

identifying a managing framework module to operate on the user device, wherein the managing framework module is a first sub-portion of the software program;

transmitting the managing framework module to the user device, wherein the managing framework module lacks full functionality of the software program;

receiving a location of the user device;

receiving a first request from user device via the managing framework module to receive a first functionality module, wherein the first functionality module comprises a second sub-portion of the software program; and

transmitting the first functionality module to the user device based on the location of the user device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the download request includes identifying information corresponding to the user device or operating environment of the user device.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein before receiving the request for the first functionality feature module, the managing framework module analyzes an authentication characteristic stored on the user device to determine that the user device is authenticated to receive the first functionality module.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first functionality module is a content catalogue including a listing of available content items to be viewed by the user device.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a second request from the user device via the managing framework module to receive a second functionality module, wherein the second functionality module is generic to the characteristics of the user device; and

transmitting the second functionality module to the user device, wherein the combination of the first functionality module and the second functionality module enable full operation of the software program.

6 . A method of transmitting a software program to a user device comprising:

receiving a download request for the software program from a user device;

transmitting a managing framework module to the user device based at least in part on the download request, wherein the managing framework module lacks full functionality of the software program, and wherein the managing framework module is a first sub-portion of the software program;

receiving one or more characteristics of the user device comprising a location of the user device;

receiving a request from the user device via the managing framework module to receive a functionality module, wherein the first functionality module comprises a second sub-portion of the software program; and

transmitting the functionality module to the user device based at least in part on the one or more characteristics.

7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

analyzing the download request to determine target information, or device information, or platform information, or a combination thereof, to select the managing framework module.

8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein before receiving the request for the first functionality feature module, the managing framework module analyzes an authentication characteristic stored on the user device to determine that the user device is authenticated to receive the functionality module.

9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the one or more characteristics further comprise hardware information, or operating system information, or a combination thereof.

10 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

analyzing the one or more characteristics to select the functionality module for transmission to the user device.

11 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

receiving a request from the user device to receive a baseline module after receiving the one or more characteristics and before the receiving the request to receive the functionality module, wherein the baseline module comprises one or more application programming interfaces that allow generic modules or chapters to communicate and operate on a specific target platform and locations corresponding to the user device.

12 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the request to receive the functionality module comprises a request for a specific functionality, or a feature, or content access, or a combination thereof.

13 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the functionality module is stored on cache of the user device for a limited time.

14 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the functionality module requires download for each use rather than being stored on cache at the user device.
