Wireless device paging
A wireless device receives, from a base station, a paging message indicating a configured uplink grant. The wireless device determines, based on the paging message indicating the configured uplink grant, timing information for transmission of an uplink packet. The wireless device transmits, to the base station and based on the timing information, the uplink packet.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a wireless device not in a radio resource control (RRC) connected state from a base station, via a paging channel, a paging message indicating a configured uplink grant, an offset time, and at least one monitoring configuration, wherein:
the configured uplink grant is associated with a plurality of configured grant identities and the at least one monitoring configuration;
the plurality of configured grant identities comprises a configured grant radio network temporary identifier and a bandwidth part (BWP) identity; and
the at least one monitoring configuration comprises the configured grant radio network temporary identifier;
monitoring, by the wireless device not in the RRC connected state, based on the configured grant radio network temporary identifier of the at least one monitoring configuration, a downlink channel to identify a downlink message indicating the offset time and the configured uplink grant associated with the configured grant radio network temporary identifier and the BWP identity;
determining, by the wireless device not in the RRC connected state, based on the downlink message indicating the configured uplink grant and the offset time, timing information of the configured uplink grant for transmission of an uplink packet, wherein the timing information comprises the offset time from a reception time of the paging message; and
transmitting, by the wireless device not in the RRC connected state, to the base station and based on the timing information, the uplink packet via the configured uplink grant.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the paging message comprises a bitmap indicating the offset time; and
the offset time comprises at least one of:
a subframe number;
a slot number; or
a symbol number.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the uplink packet comprises a radio resource control message requesting to establish or resume a radio resource control connection.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the uplink packet comprises a buffer status report (BSR) requesting an uplink grant.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the uplink packet comprises uplink data and is associated with a small data transmission (SDT) procedure.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the configured uplink grant is a grant for transmission of the uplink data associated with the small data transmission (SDT) procedure.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting the uplink packet via the configured uplink grant is based on a signal quality or a signal strength associated with the receiving the paging message.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising selecting the configured uplink grant based on the signal quality or the signal strength of a frequency resource associated with the receiving the paging message.
9 . A wireless device, comprising:
one or more processors; and
memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:
receive, while the wireless device is not in a radio resource control (RRC) connected state, from a base station via a paging channel, a paging message indicating a configured uplink grant, an offset time, and at least one monitoring configuration, wherein:
the configured uplink grant is associated with a plurality of configured grant identities and the at least one monitoring configuration;
the plurality of configured grant identities comprises a configured grant radio network temporary identifier and a bandwidth part (BWP) identity; and
the at least one monitoring configuration comprises the configured grant radio network temporary identifier;
monitor, while the wireless device is not in the RRC connected state, based on the configured grant radio network temporary identifier of the at least one monitoring configuration, a downlink channel to identify a downlink message indicating the offset time and the configured uplink grant associated with the configured grant radio network temporary identifier and the BWP identity;
determine, while the wireless device is not in the RRC connected state, based on the downlink message indicating the configured uplink grant and the offset time, timing information of the configured uplink grant for transmission of an uplink packet, wherein the timing information comprises the offset time from a reception time of the paging message; and
transmit, while the wireless device is not in the RRC connected state, to the base station and based on the timing information, the uplink packet via the configured uplink grant.
10 . The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein:
the paging message comprises a bitmap indicating the offset time; and
the offset time comprises at least one of:
a subframe number;
a slot number; or
a symbol number.
11 . The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the uplink packet comprises a radio resource control message requesting to establish or resume a radio resource control connection.
12 . The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein:
the uplink packet comprises uplink data and is associated with a small data transmission (SDT) procedure; and
the uplink packet comprises a buffer status report (BSR) requesting an uplink grant.
13 . The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the uplink packet comprises uplink data and is associated with a small data transmission (SDT) procedure.
14 . The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the configured uplink grant is a grant for transmission of the uplink data associated with the small data transmission (SDT) procedure.
15 . The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the transmitting the uplink packet via the configured uplink grant is based on a signal quality or a signal strength associated with the receiving the paging message.
16 . The wireless device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to:
select the configured uplink grant based on the signal quality or the signal strength of a frequency resource associated with the receiving the paging message.
17 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a wireless device, cause the wireless device to:
receive, while the wireless device is not in a radio resource control (RRC) connected state, from a base station via a paging channel, a paging message indicating a configured uplink grant, an offset time, and at least one monitoring configuration, wherein:
the configured uplink grant is associated with a plurality of configured grant identities and the at least one monitoring configuration;
the plurality of configured grant identities comprises a configured grant radio network temporary identifier and a bandwidth part (BWP) identity; and
the at least one monitoring configuration comprises the configured grant radio network temporary identifier;
monitor, while the wireless device is not in the RRC connected state, based on the configured grant radio network temporary identifier of the at least one monitoring configuration, a downlink channel to identify a downlink message indicating the offset time and the configured uplink grant associated with the configured grant radio network temporary identifier and the BWP identity;
determine, while the wireless device is not in the RRC connected state, based on the downlink message indicating the configured uplink grant and the offset time, timing information of the configured uplink grant for transmission of an uplink packet, wherein the timing information comprises the offset time from a reception time of the paging message; and
transmit, while the wireless device is not in the RRC connected state, to the base station and based on the timing information, the uplink packet via the configured uplink grant.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein:
the paging message comprises a bitmap indicating the offset time; and
the offset time comprises at least one of:
a subframe number;
a slot number; or
a symbol number.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the transmitting the uplink packet via the configured uplink grant is based on a signal quality or a signal strength associated with the receiving the paging message; and wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to:
select the configured uplink grant based on the signal quality or the signal strength of a frequency resource associated with the receiving the paging message.
