Abstract

The present disclosure provides high bulk tissue products, as well as an apparatus and methods for manufacturing the same. The tissue products provided herein not only have high bulk, but they also have improved surface smoothness, particularly compared to tissue products of similar basis weights.

Claims (20)

1. A rolled tissue product comprising a multi-ply tissue web spirally wound around a core, the multi-ply tissue web having a basis weight from 35 to 60 grams per square meter (gsm), a geometric mean tensile strength (GMT) from 700 to 1,400 g/3″ and a Stiffness Index from 4.0 to 8.0 and wherein the rolled tissue product has a Roll Structure from 1.0 to 2.0.

2. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web comprises a first through-air dried tissue ply and a second through-air dried tissue ply.

3. The rolled tissue product of claim 2 wherein the first or the second through-air dried tissue ply comprises a plurality of embossments.

4. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a sheet bulk from 15.0 to 20.0 cc/g.

5. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the rolled tissue product has a roll bulk from 14.0 cc/g to 18.0 cc/g.

6. The rolled tissue product of claim 5 wherein the rolled tissue product has a Roll Firmness from 8.0 to 10.0 mm.

7. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a GMT from 900 to 1,200 g/3″.

8. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 1 having a geometric mean slope (GM Slope) mean slope less than about 9,000 g/3″.

9. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 1 having a GM Slope from 4,000 to 8,000 g/3″.

10. A rolled tissue product comprising a multi-ply tissue web spirally wound around a core, the multi-ply tissue web having a basis weight from 35 to 60 grams per square meter, a geometric mean tensile strength from 700 to 1,400 g/3″, a Stiffness Index from 4.0 to 8.0 and a geometric mean stretch greater than about 11.0%.

11. The rolled tissue product of claim 10 wherein the multi-ply tissue web a geometric mean stretch from 11.0% to 15.0%.

12. The rolled tissue product of claim 11 having a Roll Structure from 1.0 to 2.0.

13. The rolled tissue product of claim 10 wherein the multi-ply tissue web comprises a first through-air dried tissue ply and a second through-air dried tissue ply.

14. The rolled tissue product of claim 13 wherein the first or the second through-air dried tissue ply comprises a plurality of embossments.

15. The rolled tissue product of claim 10 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a sheet bulk from 15.0 to 20.0 cc/g.

16. The rolled tissue product of claim 10 wherein the rolled tissue product has a roll bulk from 14.0 cc/g to 18.0 cc/g.

17. The rolled tissue product of claim 16 wherein the rolled tissue product has a Roll Firmness from 8.0 to 10.0 mm.

18. The rolled tissue product of claim 10 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a GMT from 900 to 1,200 g/3″.

19. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 10 having a geometric mean slope (GM Slope) mean slope less than about 9,000 g/3″.

20. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 10 having a GM Slope from 4,000 to 8,000 g/3″.
