Abstract

A wireless sensor network at a monitored location can be configured to generate sensor channel(s) of data to assess operational conditions at the monitored location. Inputs based on the sensor channel(s) of data are provided to a host system for analysis of a demand to one or more resources at the monitored location. Response messages can be generated based on the demand analysis and transmitted to actuator(s) at the monitored location to effect an adjustment to the operational conditions.

Claims (28)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving, by one or more servers in a host system, a first time series of data generated by a first sensor device installed in a building, and a second time series of data generated by a second sensor device installed in the building;

retrieving, by the one or more servers, a first data transformation function from a data storage based on a first identifier associated with a first sensor in the first sensor device and a second data transformation function from the data storage based on a second identifier associated with a second sensor in the second sensor device;

generating, by the one or more servers, a first time series of transformed data from the first time series of data using the first data transformation function, and a second time series of transformed data from the second time series of data using the second data transformation function;

determining, by the one or more servers, an actuator control analysis value using an actuator control analysis function that takes as input the first time series of transformed data and the second time series of transformed data, wherein the actuator control analysis function determines whether an actuator control analysis value triggers the creation of an actuator control message; and

transmitting, by the one or more servers, the actuator control message when it is determined that the actuator control analysis value hits a target level, the actuator control message configured to trigger an actuator device in the building to adjust a physical condition in the building.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first time series of data and the second time series of data include environmental sensor data.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first sensor is an air quality sensor.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the first sensor is a carbon dioxide sensor.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the actuator control analysis function includes a combinatorial analysis.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the actuator control analysis function includes a conditional analysis of multiple independent components.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the actuator device controls HVAC equipment.

8. A building management system, comprising:

a data storage configured to store a first data transformation function based on a first identifier associated with a first sensor in a first sensor device and a second data transformation function based on a second identifier associated with a second sensor in a second sensor device; and

one or more servers configured to receive a first time series of data generated by the first sensor and a second time series of data generated by the second sensor, to retrieve the first data transformation function and the second data transformation function from the data storage, and to generate a first time series of transformed data from the first time series of data using the first data transformation function and a second time series of transformed data from the second time series of data using the second data transformation function, the one or more servers further configured to determine an actuator control analysis value using an actuator control analysis function that takes as input the first time series of transformed data and the second time series of transformed data, and to transmit an actuator control message when it is determined that the actuator control analysis value hits a target level to trigger an actuator device in a building to adjust a physical condition in the building.

9. The building management system of claim 8 , wherein the first time series of data and the second time series of data include environmental sensor data.

10. The building management system of claim 8 , wherein the first sensor is an air quality sensor.

11. The building management system of claim 10 , wherein the first sensor is a carbon dioxide sensor.

12. The building management system of claim 8 , wherein the actuator control analysis function includes a combinatorial analysis.

13. The building management system of claim 8 , wherein the actuator control analysis function includes a conditional analysis of multiple independent components.

14. The building management system of claim 8 , wherein the actuator device controls HVAC equipment.

15. A building management system, comprising:

a data storage configured to store a first data transformation function based on a first identifier associated with a first indoor air quality sensor in a first indoor air quality sensor device and a second data transformation function based on a second identifier associated with a second indoor air quality sensor in a second indoor air quality sensor device; and

one or more servers configured to receive a first time series of indoor air quality data generated by the first indoor air quality sensor and a second time series of indoor air quality data generated by the second indoor air quality sensor, to retrieve the first data transformation function and the second data transformation function from the data storage, and to generate a first time series of transformed indoor air quality data from the first time series of indoor air quality data using the first data transformation function and a second time series of transformed indoor air quality data from the second time series of indoor air quality data using the second data transformation function, the one or more servers further configured to determine an HVAC actuator control analysis value using an HVAC actuator control analysis function that takes as input the first time series of transformed indoor air quality data and the second time series of transformed indoor air quality data, and to transmit an HVAC actuator control message when it is determined that the HVAC actuator control analysis value hits a target level to trigger an HVAC actuator device in a building to adjust an environmental condition in the building.

16. The building management system of claim 15 , wherein the first indoor air quality sensor is a carbon dioxide sensor.

17. The building management system of claim 15 , wherein the HVAC actuator control analysis function includes a combinatorial analysis.

18. The building management system of claim 15 , wherein the HVAC actuator control analysis function includes a conditional analysis of multiple independent components.

19. The building management system of claim 15 , wherein the HVAC actuator device controls an amount of air ventilation in the building.
