Abstract

An oral composition comprising at least one probiotic bacteria selected from the genera: Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium , and Bacillus , and ferric pyrophosphate.

Claims (15)

1. An oral composition comprising:

at least one probiotic bacteria selected from the group consisting of: Lactobacillus rhamnosus CGMCC 1.3724, Bifidobacterium lactis CNCM I-3446, and a mixture thereof;

ferric pyrophosphate, wherein the ferric pyrophosphate has a particle size distribution D 90 of 200 microns or less, a particle size distribution D 97 of 25 microns or less, and an average particle size of about 0.001 microns to about 10 microns; and

at least one pharmaceutically acceptable additive or excipient selected from the group consisting of stabilizers, fillers, emulsifiers, surfactants, solubilising agents, adsorbents, flowing agents, buffers, lubricants, wetting agents, carriers, antioxidants, thickeners, anticaking agents, coating agents, taste masking agents, preservatives, flavouring agents and dyes.

2. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the ferric pyrophosphate is in the form of a colloid.

3. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one probiotic bacteria is the mixture of Lactobacillus rhamnosus CGMCC 1.3724 and Bifidobacterium lactis CNCM I-3446.

4. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one probiotic bacteria comprises Lactobacillus rhamnosus CGMCC 1.3724.

5. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one probiotic bacteria comprises Bifidobacterium lactis CNCM I-3446.

6. The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising one or more micronutrients.

7. The composition according to claim 1 , in the form of a dietary supplement.

8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is an emulsion comprising at least one emulsifier.

9. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the at least one emulsifier comprises at least one of fatty acid ester.

10. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the particle size distribution D 90 of the ferric pyrophosphate is 100 microns or less.

11. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the particle size distribution D 97 of the ferric pyrophosphate is 15 microns or less.

12. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the ferric pyrophosphate has an average particle size of about 0.1 microns to about 0.5 microns.
