Abstract

Systems and methods for designing and implementing patient-specific surgical procedures and/or medical devices are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method includes receiving a patient data set of a patient. The patient data set is compared to a plurality of reference patient data sets, wherein each of the plurality of reference patient data sets is associated with a corresponding reference patient. A subset of the plurality of reference patient data sets is selected based, at least partly, on similarity to the patient data set and treatment outcome of the corresponding reference patient. Based on the selected subset, at least one surgical procedure or medical device design for treating the patient is generated.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising adjusting at least one relative position of the anatomical elements of the three-dimensional virtual anatomical model to generate at least a portion of the corrected three-dimensional virtual model.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising determining, using reference data of subjects, anatomical positioning for generating the corrected three-dimensional virtual model.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

analyzing a plurality of candidate procedures using at least one trained machine learning model and a set of reference patient data selected based on a similarity to the patient, and

selecting one of the candidate procedures based on the analysis of the plurality of candidate procedures.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying one or more target treatment sites in the corrected three-dimensional virtual model; and

generating one or more corrected spine metric values associated with the one or more target treatment sites.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving one or more adjusted spine metric values, wherein the corrected anatomical configuration of the patient's spinal region is based on the received one or more adjusted spine metric values.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising modifying the three-dimensional virtual model of the spinal region based on one or more user-inputted adjusted spine metric values to generate at least a portion of the corrected three-dimensional virtual model.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising (a) receiving feedback for the surgical plan, (b) revising the surgical plan based on the feedback, (c) sending the revised surgical plan for review, and (d) repeating steps (a)-(c) until receiving approval.

9. A system for providing patient-specific medical care, the system comprising:

one or more processors; and

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to perform operations comprising:

generating a three-dimensional virtual anatomical model representing a native anatomical configuration of a spinal region of a patient;

measuring one or more native spine metric values associated with anatomical elements of the three-dimensional virtual anatomical model;

generating a corrected three-dimensional virtual model of the spinal region representing a corrected anatomical configuration different from the native anatomical configuration;

measuring at least one corrected spine metric value associated with the anatomical elements of the corrected three-dimensional virtual model;

sending a surgical plan for viewing and approving the corrected anatomical configuration and the at least one corrected spine metric value; and

designing one or more patient-specific virtual implants for implantation after approval of the surgical plan, wherein the one or more patient-specific virtual implants are designed based on the corrected three-dimensional virtual model.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further include:

adjusting at least one relative position of the anatomical elements of the three-dimensional virtual anatomical model to generate at least a portion of the corrected three-dimensional virtual model.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further include:

identifying one or more implantation sites in the corrected three-dimensional virtual model of the patient's spinal region; and

generating one or more corrected spine metric values associated with the one or more implantation sites.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further include receiving one or more adjusted spine metric values, wherein the corrected anatomical configuration of the patient's spinal region is based on the received one or more adjusted spine metric values.

13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further include generating a quantitative comparison of the patient's spinal region in the corrected anatomical configuration and in the native anatomical configuration.

14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further include generating one or more images of the patient's spinal region in the corrected anatomical configuration and in the native anatomical configuration.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:

generating a three-dimensional virtual anatomical model representing a native anatomical configuration of a spinal region of a patient;

measuring one or more native spine metric values associated with anatomical elements of the three-dimensional virtual anatomical model;

generating a corrected three-dimensional virtual model of the spinal region representing a corrected anatomical configuration different from the native anatomical configuration;
