Conspicuity devices
The disclosure provides conspicuity devices and methods. A first embodiment includes a glove with at least one elongate lighting device adapted and configured to admit light having an advantageous spectral energy distribution. Additional articles of clothing are provided herein for enhanced conspicuity, such as for emergency workers and athletes.
1. A conspicuity device having a first end and a second end, comprising:
a) a headband configured to surround a head of a user or a helmet of a user, the headband including a first elastic webbing portion;
b) a second non-elastic webbing portion attached to the first elastic webbing portion;
c) one of a (i) hook portion or (ii) a loop portion of a hook and loop fastener attached to a first face of the first elastic webbing portion, and the other portion of the hook and loop fastener being attached to a face of or comprising the second non-elastic webbing portion;
d) an elongate lighting device attached to the conspicuity device having a first end and a second end, the elongate lighting device defining a longitudinal axis bound by the first end and second end and a transverse axis, wherein the elongate lighting device defines a plurality of spaced relatively bright emitting segments separated by relatively dimmer emitting segments, the elongate lighting device being defined at least in part by a layer of polymeric material attached to the second non-elastic webbing portion, the layer of polymeric material being configured to permit a preselected distribution of light generated by the elongate lighting device to pass through the layer of polymeric material; and
e) a battery pack housing mounted to at least one of the first elastic webbing portion and the second non-elastic webbing portion via at least one fastener, the battery pack housing including a push button actuator to actuate the elongate lighting device.
2. The conspicuity device of claim 1 , further comprising an adjustment to permit adjustment of the elastic webbing portion.
3. The conspicuity device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one fastener of the battery pack includes two pairs of facing teeth fixedly coupled to the battery pack housing to permit the position of the battery pack to be adjusted along the length of the webbing portion to which the battery pack is attached.
4. A conspicuity device having a first end and a second end, comprising:
a) an elastic webbing portion;
b) an elongate lighting device attached to the elastic webbing portion having a first end and a second end, the elongate lighting device defining a longitudinal axis bound by the first end and second end and a transverse axis, wherein the elongate lighting device defines a plurality of spaced relatively bright emitting segments separated by relatively dimmer emitting segments, the elongate lighting device being defined at least in part by a first, outer layer of polymeric material, the first, outer layer of polymeric material being configured to permit a preselected distribution of light generated by the elongate lighting device LEDs to pass through the layer of polymeric material; and
e) a battery pack operably coupled to the elongate lighting device, the battery pack being operably coupled to a push button actuator for actuating the elongate lighting device.
