Abstract

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a substrate, a lower electrode, a rib, a partition including a lower portion and an upper portion, an organic layer provided on the lower electrode and including a light emitting layer, and an upper electrode provided on the organic layer and in contact with the lower portion of the partition. The organic layer includes a first end portion located on the rib, and a second end portion located on the rib on an opposite side of the first end portion. A thickness of the upper electrode immediately above the second end portion is greater than a thickness of the upper electrode immediately above the first end portion.

Claims (40)

1 . A display device comprising:

a substrate;

a lower electrode provided above the substrate;

a rib comprising an aperture overlapping the lower electrode;

a partition comprising a lower portion provided on the rib, and an upper portion provided on the lower portion and protruding from a side surface of the lower portion;

an organic layer provided on the lower electrode in the aperture and including a light emitting layer; and

an upper electrode which is provided on the organic layer and is in contact with the lower portion of the partition, wherein

the organic layer comprises a first end portion located on the rib, and a second end portion located on the rib on an opposite side of the first end portion, and

a thickness of the upper electrode immediately above the second end portion is greater than a thickness of the upper electrode immediately above the first end portion.

2 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the lower portion of the partition is formed of a conductive material, and

a contact area of the upper electrode and the lower portion facing the second end portion is greater than a contact area of the upper electrode and the lower portion facing the first end portion.

3 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the first end portion and the second end portion are located immediately under the upper portion of the partition.

4 . The display device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a cap layer provided on the upper electrode; and

a sealing layer which covers the cap layer and is in contact with the lower portion of the partition, wherein

the sealing layer covers the upper electrode between the second end portion and the partition.

5 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the sealing layer comprises a closed void under the upper portion of the partition, and

the first end portion and the second end portion are located immediately under the void.

6 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

each of the organic layer, the upper electrode and the cap layer comprises a first portion located on a lower side relative to the upper portion of the partition, and a second portion located on the upper portion of the partition and spaced apart from the first portion, and

the sealing layer is in contact with the first and second portions of the cap layer.

7 . The display device of claim 6 , wherein

the second portions of the organic layer, the upper electrode and the cap layer are formed as a stacked layer body, and

the stacked layer body is provided on an entire upper surface of the upper portion of the partition.

8 . The display device of claim 6 , wherein

the second portions of the organic layer, the upper electrode and the cap layer are formed as a stacked layer body, and

part of an upper surface of the upper portion of the partition is exposed from the stacked layer body.

9 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the sealing layer is formed of an inorganic insulating material.

10 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the sealing layer is formed of silicon nitride.

11 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the rib is formed of an inorganic insulating material.

12 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the rib is formed of silicon nitride.

13 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the rib is formed of silicon oxynitride.
