Abstract

Example embodiments described herein therefore relate to an event detection system that comprises a plurality of sensor devices, to perform operations that include: generating sensor data at the plurality of sensor devices; accessing the sensor data generated by the plurality of sensor devices; detecting an event, or precursor to an event, based on the sensor data, wherein the detected event corresponds to an event category; accessing an object model associated with the event type in response to detecting the event, wherein the object model defines a procedure to be applied by the event detection system to the sensor data; and streaming at least a portion of a plurality of data streams generated by the plurality of sensor devices to a server system based on the procedure, wherein the server system may perform further analysis or visualization based on the portion of the plurality of data streams.

Claims (44)

1. A system comprising:

at least one sensor device to generate sensor data comprising a plurality of data streams;

a memory; and

one or more processors configured to perform operations comprising:

accessing a first data stream from the plurality of data streams generated by a first sensor device mounted at a vehicle, the first data stream comprising image data that comprises image features;

detecting an image feature among the image features of the image data of the first data stream generated by the first sensor device mounted at the vehicle, the image feature corresponding with an event type that includes a driver action related to a traffic proceeding;

accessing a procedure associated with the event type responsive to detecting the image feature that corresponds with the event type within the image data of the first data stream, the procedure comprising a threshold value and an identification of a second data stream from among the plurality of data streams, the second data stream generated by a second sensor device;

activating the second sensor device based on the procedure;

performing a comparison of the second data stream with the threshold value; and

presenting a notification at a client device specified by the procedure associated with the event type based on the comparison, the notification including at least a portion of the second data stream generated by the second sensor device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second data stream comprises a set of attributes, and wherein the notification includes an event indicator based on the set of attributes of the second data stream.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the presenting the event indicator that corresponds with the event includes:

causing display of a map image that includes the event indicator at a position within the map image based on the attributes of the second data stream.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second sensor device corresponds with a device identifier, and the presenting the notification at the client device includes:

identifying the client device based on the device identifier associated with the second sensor device.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first data stream comprises a video stream, and the second data stream comprises an inertial data stream.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the accessing the first data stream from the plurality of data streams occurs at a first network node, and wherein the accessing the second data stream occurs at a second network node.

7. A method comprising:

accessing a first data stream from a plurality of data streams generated by a first sensor device mounted at a vehicle, the first data stream comprising image data that comprises image features;

detecting an image feature among the image features of the image data of the first data stream generated by the first sensor device mounted at the vehicle, the image feature corresponding with an event type that includes a driver action related to a traffic proceeding;

accessing a procedure associated with the event type responsive to detecting the image feature that corresponds with the event type within the image data of the first data stream, the procedure comprising a threshold value and an identification of a second data stream from among the plurality of data streams, the second data stream generated by a second sensor device;

activating the second sensor device based on the procedure;

performing a comparison of the second data stream with the threshold value; and

presenting a notification at a client device specified by the procedure associated with the event type based on the comparison, the notification including at least a portion of the second data stream generated by the second sensor device.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the second data stream comprises a set of attributes, and wherein the notification includes an event indicator based on the set of attributes of the second data stream.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the presenting the event indicator that corresponds with the event includes:

causing display of a map image that includes the event indicator at a position within the map image based on the attributes of the second data stream.

10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the presenting the notification at the client device includes:

identifying the client device based on the procedure associated with the event type.

11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the first data stream comprises a video stream, and the second data stream comprises an inertial data stream.

12. The method of claim 7 , wherein the accessing the first data stream from the plurality of data streams occurs at a first network node, and wherein the accessing the second data stream occurs at a second network node.

13. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, comprising instructions that when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:

accessing a first data stream from a plurality of data streams generated by a first sensor device mounted at a vehicle, the first data stream comprising image data that comprises image features;

detecting an image feature among the image features of the image data of the first data stream generated by the first sensor device mounted at the vehicle, the image feature corresponding with an event type that includes a driver action related to a traffic proceeding;

accessing a procedure associated with the event type responsive to detecting the image feature that corresponds with the event type within the image data of the first data stream, the procedure comprising a threshold value and an identification of a second data stream from among the plurality of data streams, the second data stream generated by a second sensor device;

activating the second sensor device based on the procedure;

performing a comparison of the second data stream with the threshold value; and

presenting a notification at a client device specified by the procedure associated with the event type based on the comparison, the notification including at least a portion of the second data stream generated by the second sensor device.

14. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the second data stream comprises a set of attributes, and wherein the notification includes an event indicator based on the set of attributes of the second data stream.

15. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the presenting the event indicator that corresponds with the event includes:

causing display of a map image that includes the event indicator at a position within the map image based on the attributes of the second data stream.

16. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the presenting the notification at the client device includes:
