SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ESTIMATING OPERATOR VIGILANCE BY ANALYZING OPERATOR TRACKING
System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to vigilance evaluator. In one embodiment, a method includes displaying a reference trajectory for a vehicle; constraining vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle; receiving tracking performance data from the vehicle; and determining a measure of operator vigilance based on comparing the tracking performance data with the reference trajectory.
1 . A method, comprising:
displaying a reference trajectory for a vehicle;
constraining vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle;
receiving tracking performance data from the vehicle; and
determining a measure of operator vigilance based on comparing the tracking performance data with the reference trajectory.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein constraining the vehicle operator inputs further comprises ignoring at least one of the vehicle operator inputs.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein constraining the vehicle operator inputs further comprises limiting lateral movement of the vehicle to within a bounded environment that specifies a maximum range of allowed lateral vehicle movement.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the bounded environment is set to less than or equal to a width of a vehicle lane.
5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein constraining the vehicle operator inputs further comprises applying a damping factor to at least one vehicle operator input.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising adjusting the reference trajectory to at least one of road geometry or road topography.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a feedback notification based on the tracking performance data.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the reference trajectory for the vehicle only if safety conditions are satisfied.
9 . A system, comprising:
a processor; and
a memory communicably coupled to the processor and storing machine-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
display a reference trajectory for a vehicle;
constrain vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle;
receive tracking performance data from the vehicle; and
determine a measure of operator vigilance based on comparing the tracking performance data with the reference trajectory.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the machine-readable instruction to constrain the vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle further includes to ignore at least one of the vehicle operator inputs.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the machine-readable instruction to constrain the vehicle operator inputs further includes to limit lateral movement of the vehicle to within a bounded environment that specifies a maximum range of allowed lateral vehicle movement.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the bounded environment is set to less than or equal to a width of a vehicle lane.
13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the machine-readable instruction to constrain the vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle further includes to apply a damping factor to at least one vehicle operator input.
14 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the machine-readable instructions further includes an instruction that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to adjust the reference trajectory to at least one of road geometry or road topography.
15 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the machine-readable instructions further includes an instruction that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to provide a feedback notification based on the tracking performance data.
16 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium including instructions that when executed by one or more processors cause the one or more processors to:
display a reference trajectory for a vehicle;
constrain vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle;
receive tracking performance data from the vehicle; and
determine a measure of operator vigilance based on comparing the tracking performance data with the reference trajectory.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the instruction to constrain the vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle further includes to ignore at least one of the vehicle operator inputs.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the instruction to constrain the vehicle operator inputs further includes to limit lateral movement of the vehicle to within a bounded environment that specifies a maximum range of allowed lateral vehicle movement.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the bounded environment is set to less than or equal to a width of a vehicle lane.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the instruction to constrain the vehicle operator inputs applied to the vehicle further includes to apply a damping factor to at least one vehicle operator input.
