Abstract

The present invention relates to an image encoding/decoding method and apparatus. The image decoding method according to the present invention may comprise constructing N MPM lists for a current block, wherein N is equal to or greater than 1, deriving an intra prediction mode of the current block based on the N MPM lists, and performing intra prediction for the current block based on the intra prediction mode.

Claims (28)

1. An image decoding method performed by an image decoding apparatus, the image decoding method comprising:

deriving a Most Probable Mode (MPM) list based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block; and

performing intra prediction on the current block based on the MPM list,

wherein the MPM list comprises an intra prediction mode of a left block adjacent to the current block, an intra prediction mode of an upper block adjacent to the current block, and two or more additional MPM candidates,

wherein the two or more additional MPM candidates are derived based on a minimum value and a maximum value of (i) a mode value of the intra prediction mode of the left block and (ii) a mode value of the intra prediction mode of the upper block,

wherein the current block is divided into a plurality of sub-blocks, and

wherein an intra prediction mode for the plurality of sub-blocks is derived based on the MPM list.

2. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the two or more additional MPM candidates are added based on the intra prediction mode of the left block being different from the intra prediction mode of the upper block.

3. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the intra prediction modes included in the MPM list are not duplicated.

4. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the intra prediction mode for the current block is derived based on index information specifying any one of the intra prediction modes in the MPM list.

5. An image encoding method performed by an image encoding apparatus, the image encoding method comprising:

deriving a Most Probable Mode (MPM) list based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block; and

performing intra prediction on the current block based on the MPM list; and

encoding image information including information related to the intra prediction mode;

wherein the MPM list comprises an intra prediction mode of a left block adjacent to the current block, an intra prediction mode of an upper block adjacent to the current block, and two or more additional MPM candidates,

wherein the two or more additional MPM candidates are derived based on a minimum value and a maximum value of (i) a mode value of the intra prediction mode of the left block and (ii) a mode value of the intra prediction mode of the upper block,

wherein the current block is divided into a plurality of sub-blocks, and

wherein an intra prediction mode for the plurality of sub-blocks is derived based on the MPM list.

6. The image encoding method of claim 5 , wherein two or more additional MPM candidates are added based on the intra prediction mode of the left block being different from the intra prediction mode of the upper block.

7. The image encoding method of claim 5 , wherein the intra prediction modes included in the MPM list are not duplicated.

8. The image encoding method of claim 5 , wherein the intra prediction mode for the current block is derived based on index information specifying any one of the intra prediction modes in the MPM list.

9. A method for transmitting for image data, the method comprising:

obtaining a bitstream of encoded image information, wherein the encoded image information is generated based on deriving a Most Probable Mode (MPM) list based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block; performing intra prediction on the current block based on the MPM list and encoding image information including information related to the intra prediction mode; and

transmitting the image data comprising the bitstream,

wherein the MPM list comprises an intra prediction mode of a left block adjacent to the current block, an intra prediction mode of an upper block adjacent to the current block, and two or more additional MPM candidates,

wherein the two or more additional MPM candidates are derived based on a minimum value and a maximum value of (i) a mode value of the intra prediction mode of the left block and (ii) a mode value of the intra prediction mode of the upper block,

wherein the current block is divided into a plurality of sub-blocks, and

wherein an intra prediction mode for the plurality of sub-blocks is derived based on the MPM list.
