Abstract

An ozone laundry system that injects ozone into the chemical injection system in order to allow the system to inject ozone as other cleaning chemicals are injected into the washer. This allows ozone to be injected through the wash cycle rather than just during the initial fill phase and additional avoids the expense and maintenance of adding ozone recirculation plumping to an ozone laundry system. Accordingly, ozone levels may be maintained at superior levels throughout the wash cycle.

Claims (48)

1. An ozone laundry system comprising:

a wash drum configured to received soiled laundry therein;

a first water supply line configured to deliver water to the wash drum;

a flush manifold configured to receive water from a second water supply line and chemicals from one or more chemical containers, thereby forming a mixture of water and chemicals therein;

an ozone generator in fluid communication with an outlet line of the flush manifold and being configured to introduce ozone directly into the mixture of water and chemicals in the flush manifold outlet line; and

a chemical supply line configured to deliver the mixture of water, chemicals, and ozone to the wash drum

a controller configured to trigger initiation of pumping chemicals from the one or more chemical containers into the flush manifold.

2. The ozone laundry system of claim 1 , wherein the controller triggers the initiation of pumping chemicals by sending a control signal to one or more chemical pumps coupled to the one or more chemical containers, the control signal indicating an amount of the chemicals to be pumped from the one or more chemical containers.

3. The ozone laundry system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to determine an amount of the water received by the flush manifold from the second water supply line.

4. The ozone laundry system of claim 3 , further comprising:

a water inlet valve coupled to the second water supply line, the water inlet valve being configured to receive control signals from the controller, the control signals indicating an amount of time the water inlet valve is open to allow the flush manifold to receive water from the second water supply line.

5. The ozone laundry system of claim 3 , further comprising:

a water inlet valve coupled to the second water supply line; and

a dummy chemical pump coupled to the water inlet valve, the dummy chemical pump being configured to send control signals indicating an amount of time the water inlet valve is open to allow the flush manifold to receive water from the second water supply line.

6. The ozone laundry system of claim 1 , further comprising:

one or more ozone sensors coupled to the wash drum, the one or more ozone sensors being configured to determine ozone levels in the wash drum,

wherein the controller is further configured to determine an amount of ozone to be added to wash drum.

7. The ozone laundry system of claim 6 , wherein the one or more ozone sensors determines the ozone levels in the wash drum based on a flow rate of the mixture of water and chemicals in the outlet line of the flush manifold and an amount of ozone introduced by the ozone generator into the mixture of water and chemicals in the output line of the flush manifold.

8. The ozone laundry system of claim 1 , further comprising:

an ozone gas supply line coupled to the ozone gas generator and the outlet line of the flush manifold; and

an ozone gas valve coupled to the ozone gas supply line, wherein the controller is configured to provide a control signal for opening and closing the ozone gas valve thereby controlling the ozone introduced directly into the mixture of water and chemicals in the outlet line of the flush manifold.

9. The ozone laundry system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to keep ozone levels in the wash drum at 0.5 ppm, 1 ppm, or 2 ppm.

10. The ozone laundry system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to maintain ozone concentration in the wash drum at 1 ppm for various wash cycles.

11. An ozone laundry system comprising:

a wash drum;

a first water supply line configured to deliver water to the wash drum;

a flush manifold coupled to one or more chemical containers, the flush manifold configured to receive chemicals from the one or more chemical containers;

an ozone generator in fluid communication with an inlet of the flush manifold and a second water supply line, the ozone generator being configured to:

introduce ozone directly into water received from the second water supply line, and

provide the mixture of water and ozone to the inlet of the flush manifold, the flush manifold thereby forming a mixture of water, chemicals, and ozone therein;

a chemical supply line coupled to an outlet of the flush manifold configured to deliver the mixture of water, chemicals, and ozone to the wash drum; and

a controller configured to trigger initiation of pumping chemicals from the one or more chemical containers into the flush manifold.

12. The ozone laundry system of claim 11 , wherein the controller triggers the initiation of pumping chemicals by sending a control signal to one or more chemical pumps coupled to the one or more chemical containers, the control signal indicating an amount of the chemicals to be pumped from the one or more chemical containers.

13. The ozone laundry system of claim 11 , wherein the controller is further configured to determine an amount of water provided by the second water supply line for forming the mixture of water and ozone provided to the inlet of the flush manifold.

14. The ozone laundry system of claim 13 , further comprising:

a water inlet valve coupled to the second water supply line, the water inlet valve being configured to receive control signals from the controller, the control signals indicating an amount of time the water inlet valve is open to allow water flow from the second water supply line.

15. The ozone laundry system of claim 13 , further comprising:

a water inlet valve coupled to the second water supply line; and

a dummy chemical pump coupled to the water inlet valve, the dummy chemical pump being configured to send control signals indicating an amount of time the water inlet valve is open to allow water flow from the second water supply line.

16. The ozone laundry system of claim 13 , further comprising:

one or more ozone sensors coupled to the wash drum, the one or more ozone sensors being configured to determine ozone levels in the wash drum,

wherein the controller is further configured to determine an amount of ozone to be added to wash drum.

17. The ozone laundry system of claim 16 , wherein the one or more ozone sensors determines the ozone levels in the wash drum based on a flow rate of the mixture of water, chemicals, and ozone delivered to the wash drum.
