Abstract

Methods and systems provide information products relating to past, present and future advertising transactions (i.e., contracts to place advertisements in various media) to enable a marketplace in advertising products. Information regarding a plurality of advertising transactions are gathered. Data is analyzed to determine its attributes. Some attribute values are transformed and the attribute values are stored in a database. Attributes are organized or indexed according to a taxonomy of attributes to provide indexes to advertising transaction records. Indexes and benchmarks for various selected types of advertising transactions can be generated by selecting certain records from the database and aggregating the data or otherwise synthesizing information products, such as benchmarks and market entities for the selected types of advertising transactions. Information products may be published and syndicated as market indexes and benchmarks.

Claims (45)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

accessing, at a first computing device, advertising data;

computing standard attribute values for a portion of the advertising data;

generating sample advertising data from the portion of the advertising data based on the computed standard attribute values;

determining a price value based on the generated sample advertising data;

determining a composite price benchmark using the price value;

based on detecting a subscription, syndicating publication of the price value and the composite price benchmark using a second computing device of a closed network of computing devices, the syndicating further comprising causing display on a graphical user interface (GUI) of the second computing device of the composite price benchmark and of a tool for analyzing the price value and the advertising data;

receiving, via the GUI of the second computing device, a user input comprising a selection of a time period;

generating, using the tool, an analysis of the price value based on the selected time period and the advertising data; and

causing display of the generated analysis on the GUI of the second computing device.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

causing display, at the second computing device, of an interactive GUI element for acting upon a transaction associated with an advertising financial instrument, the transaction comprising terms based on the composite price benchmark displayed on the GUI of the second computing device.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the advertising data is received from a source of advertising transaction data.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sample advertising data is generated by extracting advertising transaction records associated with a selected type of advertising product over a period of time.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the selected type of advertising product comprises: an electronic display, mobile advertising, search advertising, video advertising, or game advertising.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

upon receiving, at the GUI of the second computing device, a request for a pre-computed view of the advertising data, retrieving the pre-computed view; and

displaying, at the GUI of the second computing device, the pre-computed view of the advertising data.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the standard attribute values are transformed and stored in a database.

8. A system comprising:

a computer processor; and

a computer-readable storage device comprising computer code stored thereon which, when executed by the computer processor, causes the computer processor to perform operations comprising:

accessing, at a first computing device, advertising data;

computing standard attribute values for a portion of the advertising data;

generating sample advertising data from the portion of the advertising data based on the computed standard attribute values;

determining a price value based on the generated sample advertising data;

determining a composite price benchmark using the price value;

based on detecting a subscription, syndicating publication of the price value and the composite price benchmark using a second computing device of a closed network of computing devices, the syndicating further comprising causing display on a graphical user interface (GUI) of the second computing device of the composite price benchmark and of a tool for analyzing the price value and the advertising data;

receiving, via the GUI of the second computing device, a user input comprising a selection of a time period;

generating, using the tool, an analysis of the price value based on the selected time period and the advertising data; and

causing display of the generated analysis on the GUI of the second computing device.

9. The system of claim 8 , the operations further comprising:

causing display, at the second computing device, of an interactive GUI element for acting upon a transaction associated with an advertising financial instrument, the transaction comprising terms based on the composite price benchmark displayed on the GUI of the second computing device.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the syndicating further comprises: tracking attributes of a plurality of advertising transactions for placement of advertisements in media.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the advertising data is accessed from a source of advertising transaction data.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the syndicating further comprises: providing a real-time data stream of all advertising financial market instrument transactions having a standardized set of attributes.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein sample advertising data is generated by extracting advertising transaction records associated with a selected type of advertising product over a period of time.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the selected type of advertising product comprises: an electronic display, mobile advertising, search advertising, video advertising, or game advertising.

15. The system of claim 8 , the operations further comprising:

upon receiving, at the GUI of the second computing device, a request for a pre-computed view of the advertising data, retrieving the pre-computed view; and

displaying, at the GUI of the computing device, the pre-computed view of the advertising data.

16. The system of claim 8 , wherein the standard attribute values are transformed and stored in a database.

17. The system of claim 8 , wherein the standard attribute values represent parameters associated with a given attribute in a given advertising transaction.

18. The system of claim 8 , wherein the standard attribute values further comprise: a pricing model attribute.

19. The system of claim 8 , wherein the price value is used for subsequent transactions.
