Abstract

Systems and methods for identifying content corresponding to a language are provided. Language spoken by a first user based on verbal input received from the first user is automatically determined with voice recognition circuitry. A database of content sources is cross-referenced to identify a content source associated with a language field value that corresponds to the determined language spoken by the first user. The language field in the database identifies the language that the associated content source transmits content to a plurality of users. A representation of the identified content source is generated for display to the first user.

Claims (40)

1. A method comprising:

receiving a plurality of verbal inputs;

determining, using control circuitry, a first language of a portion of the plurality of verbal inputs;

receiving an input via user interface selecting a first content item corresponding to the first language from a plurality of content items, wherein each of the plurality of content items corresponds to at least one of a plurality of languages, and wherein the plurality of languages comprises the first language; and

providing, based on the determining the first language of the portion of the plurality of verbal inputs and the receiving the input via the user interface selecting the first content item corresponding to the first language, a subset of the plurality of content items corresponding to the first language.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first language is determined to be a most frequently spoken language in a household based on the plurality of verbal inputs.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the first language of a portion of the plurality of verbal inputs comprises:

determining a plurality of respective languages in the plurality of verbal inputs;

determining a total duration for each of the plurality of languages of the received plurality of verbal inputs; and

identifying one of the plurality of languages that has a total duration that is highest.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of verbal inputs corresponds to a second plurality of languages different from the plurality of languages.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein each content item in the subset of the plurality of content items corresponding to the first language is identified by a phoneme database.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the subset of the plurality of content items further comprises modifying an existing display of a first subset of the plurality of content items, wherein each of the first subset of the plurality of content items corresponds to at least one of the plurality of languages, to display a second subset of the plurality of content items, wherein each of the second subset of the plurality of content items corresponds to the first language.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the subset of the plurality of content items further comprises providing an advertisement corresponding to the first language.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the subset of the plurality of content items comprises:

identifying a plurality of content sources corresponding to the first language; and

providing the subset of the plurality of content items from at least one of the plurality of content sources.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the input via the user interface further comprises providing the selected first content item for playback.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the providing the subset of the plurality of content items further comprises generating for display the plurality of content items after playback of the first content item.

11. A system comprising:

memory;

control circuitry configured to:

receive a plurality of verbal inputs;

determine a first language of a portion of the plurality of verbal inputs and store the first language in the memory;

receive an input via a user interface selecting a first content item corresponding to the first language from a plurality of content items, wherein each of the plurality of content items corresponds to at least one of a plurality of languages, and wherein the plurality of languages comprises the first language; and

provide, based on the determining the first language of the portion of the plurality of verbal inputs and the receiving the input via the user interface selecting the first content item corresponding to the first language, a subset of the plurality of content items corresponding to the first language.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first language is determined, by the control circuitry, to be a most frequently spoken language in a household based on the plurality of verbal inputs.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine the first language of a portion of the plurality of verbal inputs by:

determining a plurality of respective languages in the plurality of verbal inputs;

determining a total duration for each of the plurality of languages of the received plurality of verbal inputs; and

identifying one of the plurality of languages that has a total duration that is highest.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of verbal inputs corresponds to a second plurality of languages different from the plurality of languages.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein each content item in the subset of the plurality of content items corresponds to the first language is identified by a phoneme database.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to provide the subset of the plurality of content items by modifying an existing display of a first subset of the plurality of content items, wherein each of the first subset of the plurality of content items corresponds to at least one of the plurality of languages, to display a second subset of the plurality of content items, wherein each of the second subset of the plurality of content items corresponds to the first language.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to provide the subset of the plurality of content items by providing an advertisement corresponding to the first language.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to provide the subset of the plurality of content items by:

identifying a plurality of content sources corresponding to the first language; and

providing the subset of the plurality of content items from at least one of the plurality of content sources.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to receive an input via user interface selecting a first content by providing the selected first content item for playback.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to provide the subset of the plurality of content items by generating for display the plurality of content items after playback of the first content item.
