Abstract

Embodiments described herein relate to systems and methods for automatically generating content, generating API requests and/or request bodies, structuring user-generated content, and/or generating structured content in collaboration platforms, such as documentation systems, issue tracking systems, project management platforms, and other platforms. The systems and methods described use a network architecture that includes a prompt generation service and a set of one or more purpose-configured large language model instances (LLMs) and/or other trained classifiers or natural language processors used to provide generative responses for content collaboration platforms.

Claims (80)

1 . A system for providing a document editor for a collaboration platform, the system comprising:

a backend of the collaboration platform configured to manage a set of content items for a network of client devices, each client device operating a respective frontend instance of the collaboration platform, the backend of the collaboration platform executing on a server having a processing unit and computer readable memory storing instructions for:

causing display of a graphical user interface on a respective frontend instance of a client device of the network of client devices, the graphical user interface including a content region displaying user-generated content of a content item;

in response to a user selection of a portion of the user-generated content and in response to a user selection of a particular command control in the graphical user interface, generating a prompt comprising:

predefined query prompt text including an action-request instruction set; and

at least a portion of the selected portion of the user-generated content, the action-request instruction set adapted to return a bulleted list of action items identified from the selected portion of the user-generated content, the bulleted list of action items based at least in part on a user role associated with a user of the respective frontend instance;

providing the prompt to an external generative output engine using an application programming interface call over a computer network to the external generative output engine;

obtaining a generative response from the external generative output engine, in response to an occurrence of one or more action items, the generative response including the bulleted list of action items identified from the selected portion of the user-generated content;

causing display of the generative response in the graphical user interface in a preview window; and

in response to a user selection of an input control, cause the generative response to be inserted into the content item displayed in the editor region of the graphical user interface.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

in response to an occurrence of no action items, the generative response includes an alternate message; and

the alternate message is provided in the predefined query prompt text.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the predefined query prompt text includes an output schema example; and

the generative response is formatted in accordance with the output schema example.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein:

the content item is formatted in accordance with a platform-specific schema;

the generative response is formatted in accordance with a markdown schema; and

prior to causing display of the generative response in the preview window, the generative response is transformed into the platform-specific schema.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein in response to the user selection of the input control, the generative response is added to the content item using the platform-specific schema.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the graphical user interface includes an editor region and a navigational region that is positioned along a side of the editor region;

the navigational region includes a hierarchical element tree of elements, each element selectable to cause display of respective content item content within the editor region.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

in response to user selection of a publish control in the graphical user interface subsequent to causing the generative response to be inserted into the content item displayed in the editor region,

saving the content item including the generative response.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the collaboration platform is an issue tracking system;

the content item is an issue managed by the issue tracking system; and

the user-generated content includes a list of interactions with regard to the issue.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the generative response includes a list of event summaries; and

the list of event summaries are saved with the issue on the issue tracking system subsequent to insertion of the event summaries into the editor region.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the collaboration platform is a documentation platform;

the content item is a page managed by the documentation platform; and

the bulleted list of action items is generated in accordance with text in the selected portion of the user-generated content.

11 . A computer-implemented method of providing content items of a collaboration platform, the method comprising:

cause display of a graphical user interface on a frontend of the collaboration platform on a client device, the graphical user interface including an editor region displaying user-generated content of an electronic document;

in response to a user selection of a particular command control in the graphical user interface, generating a prompt comprising:

predefined query prompt text including an action-request instruction set; and

a text-formatted version of the user-generated content of the electronic document, the predefined query prompt text adapted to produce a bulleted list of action items identified from the text-formatted version of the user-generated content, the bulleted list of action items based at least in part on a user role associated with a user of the frontend;

providing the prompt to an external generative output engine using an application programming interface call over a computer network to the external generative output engine;

obtaining a generative response from the external generative output engine, the generative response including a bulleted list of action items identified from the user-generated content; and

causing display of the generative response in the graphical user interface in a preview window.

12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , wherein in response to the user selection of an input control, cause the generative response to be inserted into the editor region of the graphical user interface.

13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , wherein in response to the user selection of an input control, cause the generative response to replace at least a portion of the user-generated content displayed in the editor region of the graphical user interface.

14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , wherein:

the collaboration platform is a first collaboration platform;

the content item is a first content item; and
