Abstract

Claims (28)

1. An applicator for an artificial lash extension comprising:

a pair of opposing arms comprising a first arm and a second arm, wherein the first arm and the second arm are joined at proximal ends to form a hinge, each of the first and second arms comprising:

a first side opposite a second side, and an interior surface opposite an exterior surface, wherein the interior surface and the exterior surface extend between the first side and the second side;

a medial section extending distally from the proximal end; and

a grasping section extending distally from the medial section, the grasping section comprising an arcuate portion orientated transverse to the medial section,

the arcuate portion having a concave curvature facing opposite the proximal end and a convex curvature opposite the concave curvature, wherein a portion of the interior surface corresponding to the grasping section of the first arm comprises a male portion defined by a protrusion having a first arcuate contour corresponding to at least part of the concave curvature and the convex curvature of the arcuate portion of the grasping section; and

wherein a portion of the interior surface corresponding to the grasping section of the second arm comprises a female portion defined by at least one depression having a second arcuate contour corresponding to at least part of the concave curvature and the convex curvature of the arcuate portion of the grasping section, wherein the male portion and the female portion are designed to crimp natural lashes and the artificial lash extension that are disposed therebetween.

2. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the male portion comprises an edge at an apex of the male portion.

3. The applicator of claim 2 , wherein the male portion comprises a first surface facing opposite the proximal end of the first arm, the first surface having a curvature extending between the apex of the male portion and the interior surface of the grasping section of the first arm.

4. The applicator of claim 3 , wherein the male portion comprises a second surface opposite the first surface, the second surface that is substantially flat and that extends between the apex and the interior surface of the grasping section.

5. The applicator of claim 2 , wherein the female portion protrudes from the interior surface of the grasping section.

6. The applicator of claim 5 , wherein the female portion comprises a first interior surface that intersects a second interior surface of the female portion at a line of intersection.

7. The applicator of claim 6 , wherein the line of intersection is concave line that corresponding to at least part of the concave curvature of the arcuate portion of the grasping section of the second arm.

8. The applicator of claim 6 , wherein the apex of the male portion corresponds to the line of intersection of the female portion.

9. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the grasping section of each of the first and second arms comprises:

a pair of terminal distal ends, each of the terminal distal ends comprising a bulge.

10. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the medial section of the first arm or the medial section of the second arm comprises:

a dimpled portion defined by a depression in the medial section.

11. The applicator of claim 10 , wherein the dimpled portion is at least in part textured.

12. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the male portion is fastened to the first arm, and the female portion is fastened to the second arm.

13. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the male portion is monolithic with the portion of the interior surface corresponding to the grasping section of the first arm, and wherein the female portion is monolithic with the portion of the interior surface corresponding to the grasping section of the second arm.

14. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the male portion and the female portion are coated with a friction reducing coating.

15. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the male portion comprises a single continuous protrusion.

16. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the applicator is configured to transition from an open position to a closed position, in the open position the male portion and the female portion are separated from one another, and in the closed position the male portion and the female portion mate with one another, wherein the open position of the applicator is a default position, and wherein an application of pressure to the exterior surface of each arm of the applicator transitions the applicator from the open position to the closed position.

17. The applicator of claim 1 , wherein the male portion and the female portion are designed to mate to grasp hairs of the artificial lash extension.

18. The applicator of claim 17 , wherein the male portion and the female portion of the applicator are designed to mate with one another to bond the artificial lash extension to a lower side of natural eyelashes.

19. The applicator of claim 18 wherein the male portion and the female portion are designed to redistribute an adhesive among the artificial lash extension and the natural eyelashes.

20. The applicator of claim 1 , comprising at least one of a metal or metal alloy.
