Abstract

A system is provided for publishing a disparate live media output stream manifest that includes media segments corresponding to key events. A live production and playout system of disparate sub-systems is synchronized to a reference clock. A timecode from the reference clock is used as a reference time to log content related to key events that occur within the live production and playout system. A live event logging system is synchronized to the reference clock same as the live production and playout system. Based on location of the live event logging system, a time offset is introduced to compensate for a delay. When delay is variable, the reference clock is decoded from a live input stream to associate each key event with a corresponding timecode. Based on a programming schedule comprising the key events that occurred in the live input stream, the disparate live media output stream manifest is published.

Claims (36)

1. A system comprising memory and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory, the one or more processors configured to:

synchronize a live event logging system to a reference clock;

introduce a time offset to compensate for a delay based on a location of the live event logging system;

decode, based on the time offset, the reference clock from a live input stream to associate one or more key events of the live input stream with corresponding timestamps;

associate one or more media segments of the live input stream with the corresponding timestamps; and

transmit a catch-up schedule comprising references to the one or more media segments corresponding to the one or more key events in the live input stream-playout.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more key events occurred prior to a current live point of the live input stream.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the catch-up schedule is transmitted for publishing in a disparate live media output stream manifest.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein associating the one or more media segments with the corresponding timestamps is based on a publish time of the one or more media segments and a time reference provided by the reference clock.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein each key event of the one or more key events is associated with a rating.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

include only those key events of the one or more key events in the catch-up schedule having a rating exceeding a threshold rating.

7. One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media including instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

synchronize a live event logging system to a reference clock;

introduce a time offset to compensate for a delay based on a location of the live event logging system;

decode, based on the time offset, the reference clock from a live input stream to associate one or more key events of the live input stream with corresponding timestamps;

associate one or more media segments of the live input stream with the corresponding timestamps; and

transmit a catch-up schedule comprising references to the one or more media segments corresponding to the one or more key events in the live input stream.

8. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 7 , wherein the one or more key events occurred prior to a current live point of the live input stream.

9. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 7 , wherein the catch-up schedule is transmitted for publishing in a disparate live media output stream manifest.

10. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 7 , wherein associating the one or more media segments with the corresponding timestamps is based on a publish time of the one or more media segments and a time reference provided by the reference clock.

11. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 7 , wherein each key event of the one or more key events is associated with a rating.

12. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are further caused to:

include only those key events of the one or more key events in the catch-up schedule having a rating exceeding a threshold rating.

13. A computer-implemented method comprising:

synchronizing, by one or more processors, a live event logging system to a reference clock;

introducing, by the one or more processors, a time offset to compensate for a delay based on a location of the live event logging system;

decoding, by the one or more processors and based on the time offset, the reference clock from a live input stream to associate one or more key events of the live input stream with corresponding timestamps;

associating, by the one or more processors, one or more media segments of the live input stream with the corresponding timestamps; and

transmitting, by the one or more processors, a catch-up schedule comprising references to the one or more media segments corresponding to the one or more key events in the live input stream.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more key events occurred prior to a current live point of the live input stream.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the catch-up schedule is transmitted for publishing in a disparate live media output stream manifest.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein associating the one or more media segments with the corresponding timestamps is based on a publish time of the one or more media segments and a time reference provided by the reference clock.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein each key event of the one or more key events is associated with a rating.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 17 , further comprising:

including only those key events of the one or more key events in the catch-up schedule having a rating exceeding a threshold rating.
