Abstract

Utilization of a selection ring to select icons is provided herein. The selection ring is presented in a first graphical user interface. In response to receiving a first selection of the selection ring by a user, a plurality of icons are presented in the first graphical user interface. User manipulation of a position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface is received, where that manipulation occurs without altering a location of the plurality of icons being presented within the first graphical user interface. In response to receiving a second selection associated with the selection ring, an icon from the plurality of icons is selected based on the position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface. A second graphical user interface is then presented to the user based on the selected icon.

Claims (59)

1. A method, comprising:

in response to an activation of a selection ring by a user:

presenting, in first graphical user interface, a plurality of icons that each have an icon position within the first graphical user interface; and

activating user manipulation of a position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface;

receiving the user manipulation of the position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface relative to the plurality of icons;

selecting an icon from the plurality of icons based on the position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface relative to the icon position of the icon; and

transitioning the first graphical user interface into a second graphical user interface based on the selected icon.

2. The method claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting a selection siren to the user in the first graphical user interface based on the user manipulation.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting information regarding the icon having the icon position associated with the position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting a second plurality of icons to the user in the first graphical user interface based on the user manipulation of the selection ring.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting a second plurality of icons to the user in the second graphical user interface based on the selected icon.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

receiving a selection of an icon from the second plurality of icons based on a position of the selection ring in the second graphical user interface.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

activating the selection ring in response to selection of the selection ring by the user.

8. An interactive user interface control system, comprising:

a display device;

a memory that stores computer instructions; and

at least one processor that is configured to execute computer instructions to:

present, on the display device, a selection ring in a first graphical user interface;

in response activation of the selection ring by the user:

present, on the display device and in the first graphical user interface, a plurality of icons that each have an icon position within the first graphical user interface; and

activate user manipulation of a position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface;

receive the user manipulation of the position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface relative to the plurality of icons;

select of an icon from the plurality of icons based on the position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface relative to the icon position of the icon; and

transition the first graphical user interface into a second graphical user interface based on the selected icon.

9. The computer device of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to further execute the computer instructions to:

present, on the display device, a selection siren to the user in the first graphical user interface based on the user manipulation.

10. The computer device of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to further execute the computer instructions to:

present, on the display device, information regarding the icon having the icon position associated with the position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface.

11. The computer device of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to further execute the computer instructions to:

present, on the display device, a second plurality of icons to the user in the first graphical user interface based on the user manipulation of the selection ring.

12. The computer device of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to further execute the computer instructions to:

present, on the display device, a second plurality of icons to the user in the second graphical user interface based on the selected icon.

13. The computer device of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to further execute the computer instructions to:

receive a selection of an icon from the second plurality of icons based on a position of the selection ring in the second graphical user interface.

14. The computer device of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to further execute the computer instructions to:

activate the selection ring in response to selection of the selection ring by the user.

15. A non-transitory computer readable medium that stores computer instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

displaying a selection ring to a user in a first graphical user interface;

in response to an activation of the selection ring by the user:

displaying a plurality of icons each having an icon position in the first graphical user interface; and

enabling the user to manipulate a position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface;

receiving user manipulation of the position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface relative to the plurality of icons;

selecting an icon from the plurality of icons based on the user manipulation and the position of the selection ring relative to the icon position of the icon; and

displaying a second graphical user interface to the user based on the selected icon.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein execution of the computer instructions by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform further operations, the further operations comprising:

presenting a selection siren to the user in the first graphical user interface based on the user manipulation of the selection ring.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the selection siren includes information regarding the icon having the icon position associated with the position of the selection ring in the first graphical user interface.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein execution of the computer instructions by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform further operations, the further operations comprising:

presenting a second plurality of icons to the user in the first graphical user interface based on the user manipulation of the selection ring.

19. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein execution of the computer instructions by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform further operations, the further operations comprising:

presenting a second plurality of icons to the user in the second graphical user interface.

20. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein execution of the computer instructions by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform further operations, the further operations comprising:

activating the selection ring in response to selection of the selection ring by the user.
