Abstract

This application discloses ophthalmic formulations and methods for treating and preventing corneal haze and scarring with an hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) agent.

Claims (11)

34 . A method of increasing stratification of corneal epithelial cells comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a composition comprising purified hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) polypeptide, wherein the HGF polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 1.

35 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the HGF polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 98% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 1.

36 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the HGF polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 99% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 1.

37 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the purified HGF agent is present in a concentration of 0.001% to 1% w/v.

38 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the HGF polypeptide is present in a concentration of about 0.005% to 0.5% w/v.

39 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the HGF polypeptide is present in a concentration of about 0.01% w/v.

40 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the composition is administered daily for 5 days after an injury to the cornea.

41 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the composition is administered daily for 3 days after an injury to the cornea.

42 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the composition is administered 1 day after an injury to the cornea.

43 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the composition is formulated as an eye drop.
