Abstract

Wireless communication systems and methods related to Radio Link Control (RLC) status reporting are provided. A wireless communication device receives one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device determines missing RLC data PDUs in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device receives a first uplink (UL) grant. The wireless communication device transmits a first RLC status report including an indication of a first subset of the missing RLC PDUs less than all the missing RLC PDUs, the indication of the first subset of missing PDUs being based on a size of the first UL grant. The wireless communication device modifies a RLC status prohibit timer based on the transmitted first RLC status report indicating less than all the missing RLC PDUs.

Claims (50)

1 . A method of wireless communication performed by a wireless communication device, comprising:

receiving one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs;

determining one or more missing data segments in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs;

receiving an uplink (UL) grant;

transmitting a RLC status report indicating that a data range in the sequence of RLC PDUs includes missing data based on the one or more missing data segments, wherein the data range includes at least one received data segment, and wherein the indication of the data range is based on a size of the UL grant;

determining to include the data range in the RLC status report based on at least one of a quantity of the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments or the size of the UL grant, the data range including at least the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments; and

wherein the determining the one or more missing data segments comprises:

determining one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments in at least a first RLC PDU of the one or more received RLC PDUs, the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments being less than all bytes in the first RLC PDU.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sequence of RLC PDUs is associated with a RLC receive window.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting the RLC status report comprises:

transmitting, in response to determining to include the data range in the RLC status report, the RLC status report indicating a sequence number associated with the first RLC PDU.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

generating the RLC status report, wherein the generating the RLC status report comprises:

assigning, in response to determining to include the data range in the RLC status report, the sequence number of the first RLC PDU to an acknowledgement sequence number (ACK SN) indication,

wherein the transmitting the RLC status report further comprises:

transmitting the RLC status report including the ACK SN indication indicating the sequence number of the first RLC PDU.

5 . A wireless communication device comprising:

at least one memory;

at least one transceiver; and

at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory and the at least one transceiver, wherein the wireless communication device is configured to:

receive one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs;

determine one or more missing data segments in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs;

receive an uplink (UL) grant;

transmit a RLC status report indicating that a data range in the sequence of RLC PDUs includes missing data based on the one or more missing data segments, wherein the data range includes at least one received data segment, and wherein the indication of the data range being is on a size of the UL grant;

determine to include the data range in the RLC status report based on at least one of a quantity of the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments or the size of the UL grant, the data range including at least the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments; and

wherein the determine the one or more missing data segments comprises:

determine one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments in at least a first RLC PDU of the one or more received RLC PDUs, the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments being less than all bytes in the first RLC PDU.

6 . The wireless communication device of claim 5 , wherein the sequence of RLC PDUs is associated with a RLC receive window.

7 . The wireless communication device of claim 5 , wherein the transmitting the RLC status report comprises:

transmitting, in response to determining to include the data range in the RLC status report, the RLC status report indicating a sequence number associated with the first RLC PDU.

8 . The wireless communication device of claim 5 , wherein the wireless communication device is further configured to:

generate the RLC status report, wherein the generating the RLC status report comprises:

assign, in response to determining to include the data range in the RLC status report, the sequence number of the first RLC PDU to an acknowledgement sequence number (ACK SN) indication,

wherein the transmit the RLC status report further comprises:

transmit the RLC status report including the ACK SN indication indicating the sequence number of the first RLC PDU.

9 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing one or more instructions for wireless communication, the one or more instructions comprising one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a wireless communication device, cause the wireless communication device to:

receive one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUS;

determine one or more missing data segments in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs;

receive an uplink (UL) grant;

transmit a RLC status report indicating that a data range in the sequence of RLC PDUs includes missing data based on the one or more missing data segments, wherein the data range includes at least one received data segment, and wherein the indication of the data range is based on a size of the UL grant;

determine to include the data range in the RLC status report based on at least one of a quantity of the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments or the size of the UL grant, the data range including at least the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments; and

wherein the determine the one or more missing data segments comprises:

determine one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments in at least a first RLC PDU of the one or more received RLC PDUs, the one or more non-consecutive missing byte segments being less than all bytes in the first RLC PDU.

10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the transmitting the RLC status report comprises:
