Abstract

A detection is made that a user of a platform has provided question text via a user interface (UI). A question associated with the provided question text is determined. An answer field format including a data type associated with one or more key terms of the question is identified. The UI is updated to include, with the question, one or more answer field options related to the question. The one or more answer field options are presented based on at least the data type of the identified answer field format.

Claims (56)

1. A method comprising:

detecting, by a processing device, that a user of a platform has provided question text via a user interface (UI) of a client device associated with the user, wherein the question text comprises at least a first portion of a question;

determining, by the processing device, one or more second portions of the question based on the provided question text and content of one or more electronic documents associated with the user;

identifying, by the processing device, an answer field format comprising a data type associated with one or more key terms of the question; and

updating, by the processing device, the UI to include, with the question, at least one of one or more answer field options related to the question or one or more potential answers to the question, wherein the at least one of the one or more answer field options or the one or more potential answers to the question are presented based on the data type of the identified answer field format and the content of the one or more electronic documents.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

detecting that the user of the platform has provided additional question text via the UI of the client device, wherein the additional question text corresponds to an updated version of the question associated with provided question text;

identifying an updated answer field format comprising an additional data type associated with one or more additional key terms of the updated version of the question; and

updating the UI to include, with the updated version of the question, one or more additional answer field options related to the updated version of the question, wherein the one or more answer field options are presented based on one or more of the data type or the additional data type.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the answer field format is identified from a knowledge database.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein identifying the answer field format comprises:

requesting, from the knowledge database, data associated with the one or more key terms of the question text, wherein the data comprises one or more answer field formats associated with the one or more key terms;

determining a type of the question based on the one or more key terms; and

selecting, based on the data, the answer field format associated with the type of the question.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a request to change the answer field format to a supplemental answer field format, wherein the request comprises one or more supplemental data types of the supplemental answer field format; and

updating the UI to include one or more additional answer field options based on at least the supplemental data type of the supplemental answer field format.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

generating learning data indicating the requested change to the answer field format to the supplemental answer field format, wherein the learning data is subsequently used to determine whether to recommend the answer field format in response to receiving subsequent key terms of subsequent question text from another user.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the answer field format comprises at least one of: a text field, a check box, or a drop-down option menu.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more electronic documents associated with the user comprise at least one of an electronic mail document, a calendar event entry document, a collaborative editing document, or a webpage document.

9. A system comprising:

a memory; and

a processing device coupled to memory, the processing device to perform operations comprising:

detecting that a user of a platform has provided question text via a user interface (UI) of a client device associated with the user, wherein the question text comprises at least a first portion of a question;

determining one or more second portions of the question based on the provided question text and content of one or more electronic documents associated with the user;

identifying an answer field format comprising a data type associated with one or more key terms of the question; and

updating the UI to include, with the question, at least one of one or more answer field options related to the question or one or more potential answers to the question, wherein the at least one of the one or more answer field options or the one or more potential answers to the quest are presented based on the data type of the identified answer field format and the content of the one or more electronic documents.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise:

detecting that the user of the platform has provided additional question text via the UI of the client device, wherein the additional question text corresponds to an updated version of the question associated with provided question text;

identifying an updated answer field format comprising an additional data type associated with one or more additional key terms of the updated version of the question; and

updating the UI to include, with the updated version of the question, one or more additional answer field options related to the updated version of the question, wherein the one or more answer options are presented based on one or more of the data type or the additional data type.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the answer field format is identified from a knowledge database.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein identifying the answer field format comprises:

requesting, from the knowledge database, data associated with the one or more key terms of the question text, wherein the data comprises one or more answer field formats associated with the one or more key terms;

determining a type of the question based on the one or more key terms; and

selecting, based on the data, the answer field format associated with the type of the question.

13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving a request to change the answer field format to a supplemental answer field format, wherein the request comprises one or more supplemental data types of the supplemental answer field format; and

updating the UI to include one or more additional answer field options based on at least the supplemental data type of the supplemental answer field format.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

generating learning data indicating the requested change to the answer field format to the supplemental answer field format, wherein the learning data is subsequently used to determine whether to recommend the answer field format in response to receiving subsequent key terms of subsequent question text from another user.

15. A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions for a server that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:

detecting that a user of a platform has provided question text via a user interface (UI) of a client device associated with the user, wherein the question text comprises at least a first portion of a question;

determining one or more second portions of the question based on the provided question text and content of one or more electronic documents associated with the user;

identifying an answer field format comprising a data type associated with one or more key terms of the question; and

updating the UI to include, with the question, at least one of one or more answer field options related to the question or one or more potential answers to the question, wherein the at least one of the one or more answer field options or the one or more potential answers to the question are presented based on at least the data type of the identified answer field format and the content of the one or more electronic documents.

16. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:

detecting that the user of the platform has provided additional question text via the UI of the client device, wherein the additional question text corresponds to an updated version of the question associated with provided question text;

identifying an updated answer field format comprising an additional data type associated with one or more additional key terms of the updated version of the question; and

updating the UI to include, with the updated version of the question, one or more additional answer field options related to the updated version of the question, wherein the one or more answer options are presented based on one or more of the data type or the additional data type.

17. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the answer field format is identified from a knowledge database.

18. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein identifying the answer field format comprises:

requesting, from the knowledge database, data associated with the one or more key terms of the question text, wherein the data comprises one or more answer field formats associated with the one or more key terms;

determining a type of the question based on the one or more key terms; and

selecting, based on the data, the answer field format associated with the type of the question.
