Abstract

A computer-implemented method, computer program product and computing system for: gathering information from a datasource concerning one or more incidents within one or more medical institutions, thus defining gathered information; enabling a user to select a viewing lens from a plurality of available viewing lenses through which to display the gathered information, thus defining a selected viewing lens; and rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens.

Claims (57)

1 . A computer-implemented method, executed on a computing device, comprising:

gathering information from a datasource concerning one or more incidents within one or more medical institutions, thus defining gathered information;

enabling a user to select a viewing lens from a plurality of available viewing lenses through which to display the gathered information, thus defining a selected viewing lens; and

rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens.

2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of available viewing lenses includes one or more of:

a macro level viewing lens;

a facility level viewing lens;

a unit level viewing lens;

a cohort level viewing lens; and

an individual level viewing lens.

3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the gathered information concerns, at least in part, one or more incidents that occurred within the one or more medical institutions.

4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens includes:

graphically locating at least a portion of the one or more incidents within at least a portion of the one or more medical institutions.

5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the incidents of a particular patient within the within one or more medical institutions is reviewable via an individual level viewing lens.

6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the one or more incidents are defined, at least in part, by one or more alarms occurring within the one or more medical institutions.

7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 6 wherein the one or more alarms are originated, at least in part, on one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 6 wherein the one or more alarms are based, at least in part, upon one or more thresholds of the one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 further comprising:

enabling a user to adjust the one or more thresholds of the one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

10 . A computer program product residing on a computer readable medium having a plurality of instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

gathering information from a datasource concerning one or more incidents within one or more medical institutions, thus defining gathered information;

enabling a user to select a viewing lens from a plurality of available viewing lenses through which to display the gathered information, thus defining a selected viewing lens; and

rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens.

11 . The computer program product of claim 10 wherein the plurality of available viewing lenses includes one or more of:

a macro level viewing lens;

a facility level viewing lens;

a unit level viewing lens;

a cohort level viewing lens; and

an individual level viewing lens.

12 . The computer program product of claim 10 wherein the gathered information concerns, at least in part, one or more incidents that occurred within the one or more medical institutions.

13 . The computer program product of claim 10 wherein rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens includes:

graphically locating at least a portion of the one or more incidents within at least a portion of the one or more medical institutions.

14 . The computer program product of claim 10 wherein the incidents of a particular patient within the within one or more medical institutions is reviewable via an individual level viewing lens.

15 . The computer program product of claim 10 wherein the one or more incidents are defined, at least in part, by one or more alarms occurring within the one or more medical institutions.

16 . The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the one or more alarms are originated, at least in part, on one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

17 . The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the one or more alarms are based, at least in part, upon one or more thresholds of the one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

18 . The computer program product of claim 17 further comprising:

enabling a user to adjust the one or more thresholds of the one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

19 . A computing system including a processor and memory configured to perform operations comprising:

gathering information from a datasource concerning one or more incidents within one or more medical institutions, thus defining gathered information;

enabling a user to select a viewing lens from a plurality of available viewing lenses through which to display the gathered information, thus defining a selected viewing lens; and

rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens.

20 . The computing system of claim 19 wherein the plurality of available viewing lenses includes one or more of:

a macro level viewing lens;

a facility level viewing lens;

a unit level viewing lens;

a cohort level viewing lens; and

an individual level viewing lens.

21 . The computing system of claim 19 wherein the gathered information concerns, at least in part, one or more incidents that occurred within the one or more medical institutions.

22 . The computing system of claim 19 wherein rendering at least a portion of the gathered information based, at least in part, upon the selected viewing lens includes:

graphically locating at least a portion of the one or more incidents within at least a portion of the one or more medical institutions.

23 . The computing system of claim 19 wherein the incidents of a particular patient within the within one or more medical institutions is reviewable via an individual level viewing lens.

24 . The computing system of claim 19 wherein the one or more incidents are defined, at least in part, by one or more alarms occurring within the one or more medical institutions.

25 . The computing system of claim 24 wherein the one or more alarms are originated, at least in part, on one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

26 . The computing system of claim 24 wherein the one or more alarms are based, at least in part, upon one or more thresholds of the one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.

27 . The computing system of claim 26 further comprising:

enabling a user to adjust the one or more thresholds of the one or more devices within the one or more medical institutions.
