Abstract

The specification discloses methods and systems for enabling users to configure one or more actuators in data communication with a user's computing device and positioned on a prop to generate and deliver feedback to a motion capture actor engaged with the prop. At least one graphical interface in the computing device is configured to enable the user to configure occurrence of at least one event during a scene, associate a time and duration of occurrence to the at least one event within an overall duration of the scene, select the prop, assign the at least one event and the associated time and duration of occurrence to at least one actuator on the prop, configure at least one parameter for the feedback, and activate the at least one actuator to generate and deliver the feedback to the actor in response to an occurrence of the at least one event.

Claims (28)

1. A non-transient computer readable medium comprising a plurality of programmatic instructions that, when executed:

accesses a library of events;

receives an identification of at least one event from said library of events;

receives a time of occurrence of said at least one event;

accesses a library of items, wherein each item is representative of a physical prop;

receives an identification of at least one item from said library of items;

assigns said at least one event and the time of occurrence to at least one actuator on the at least one item;

sets attributes of feedback associated with the at least one actuator; and

activates the at least one actuator in accordance with the at least one event and the time of occurrence.

2. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein, based on said identification of the at least one item, generates a graphical display of said at least one item.

3. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 2 , wherein the at least one item is a motion capture body suit and wherein the graphical display comprises a front view of the motion capture body suit and a rear view of the motion capture body suit.

4. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 3 , wherein the at least one actuator comprises more than one haptic feedback devices, wherein at least one of the more than one haptic feedback devices is positioned on a front of the motion capture body suit and wherein at least one of the more than one haptic feedback devices is positioned on a back of the motion capture body suit.

5. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 3 , further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, receive a selection of the motion capture body suit and, in response to said selection, generates the at least one event available to be assigned to said motion capture body suit.

6. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, generates a feedback profile for the at least one event.

7. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator comprises multiple actuators and wherein the feedback profile comprises activating only one of said multiple actuators at a given time.

8. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the at least one event is a gunshot from a first caliber gun.

9. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the at least one actuator comprises multiple actuators and wherein the feedback profile comprises activating all of said multiple actuators at a given time.

10. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the at least one event is a gunshot from a second caliber gun, wherein the second caliber gun is greater than the first caliber gun.

11. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one actuator to generate and deliver tactile stimuli to an actor coupled with the at least one item.

12. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein, the tactile stimuli reflects a motion having an associated intensity and direction.

13. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator is positioned on the physical prop and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to deliver a localized haptic feedback by activating the at least one actuator.

14. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the at least one actuator comprises more than one actuator and wherein the more than one actuator is positioned on the physical prop, and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to deliver a distributed haptic feedback by activating each of the more than one actuator.

15. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator is positioned on the physical prop and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to generate a vibrational feedback, an electrical pulse feedback or a force stimuli feedback.

16. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator is positioned on the physical prop and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to generate one of a plurality of levels of haptic feedback, wherein each of the plurality of levels of haptic feedback has a different intensity level.

17. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator is positioned on the physical prop and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to generate one of a plurality of levels of haptic feedback, wherein each of the plurality of levels of haptic feedback lasts for a different amount of time.

18. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator is positioned on the physical prop and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to generate at least one of a first pattern of haptic feedback and a second pattern of haptic feedback, wherein the first pattern of haptic feedback has a first time on and a first time off, wherein the second pattern of haptic feedback has a second time on and a second time off, and wherein the second time on is longer than the first time on and the second time off is longer than the first time off.

19. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the first time on and the first time off are each approximately 200 milliseconds and wherein the second time on and the second time off are each approximately 600 milliseconds.

20. The non-transient computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the at least one actuator is positioned on the physical prop and further comprising programmatic instructions that, when executed, cause the physical prop to generate haptic feedback and further generate audio-visual cues delivered in synchronization with the time of occurrence of the at least one event.
