Abstract

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for facilitating treatment of a vehicle damaged in a crash utilizes near real-time monitoring of the market value of a vehicle type that includes the damaged vehicle, its vehicle parts, and/or one or more arranged vehicle treatments to approximate an extent of damage to the damaged vehicle and determine a prospective vehicle treatment facility for treating the damaged vehicle. In particular, the system continually monitors the market value of a vehicle, its vehicle parts, and/or a prescribed vehicle treatment to calculate a treatment complexity level, e.g., vehicle repair, total loss; for treating the damaged vehicle.

Claims (34)

1 . A method, comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors via one or more sensors coupled to a damaged vehicle having a vehicle type and having one or more damaged vehicle parts, sensor data associated with the damaged vehicle, captured near or at a time of when damage occurred;

identifying, by the one or more processors, which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle based on analyzing the sensor data captured by the one or more sensors associated with the damaged vehicle at or near the time when the damage occurred, and historical damage information associated with other vehicles having a same vehicle type as the damaged vehicle and having damage to at least one same damaged vehicle part as the damaged vehicle, wherein identifying which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle includes assigning one of a refinish, repair, or replacement treatment to each of the respective one or more damaged vehicle parts;

selecting, by the one or more processors, a vehicle treatment facility for treating the damaged vehicle based upon a capability of the vehicle treatment facility for providing the identified type of vehicle treatment needed for treating the damaged vehicle; and

transmitting, by the one or more processors, information associated with treating the damaged vehicle to the selected vehicle treatment facility.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving crash information about the damaged vehicle, including receiving a description of the damaged vehicle, and the received description includes an auditory description and/or a visual description.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

monitoring, by the one or more processors, vehicle marketing information of the vehicle type that includes the damaged vehicle, the vehicle marketing information including a market value for the vehicle type, a market value for a vehicle part for the vehicle type, and/or a market value for a prescribed vehicle treatment for the vehicle type; and

modifying, by the one or more processors, vehicle collision data based on a detected change in the monitored vehicle marketing information; wherein the identified type of vehicle treatment is based on an evaluation of the received crash information and the modified collision data.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the monitoring of the vehicle marketing information includes a periodic interval of a minute, an hour, a day, or a week.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the identified type of vehicle treatment further includes a price schedule for treating the damaged vehicle.

6 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

receive, via one or more sensors coupled to a damaged vehicle having a vehicle type and having one or more damaged vehicle parts, sensor data associated with the damaged vehicle, captured near or at a time when damage occurred;

identify which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle based on analyzing the sensor data captured by the one or more sensors associated with the damaged vehicle at or near the time when the damage occurred, and historical damage information associated with other vehicles having a same vehicle type as the damaged vehicle and having damage to at least one same damaged vehicle part as the damaged vehicle, wherein identifying which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle includes assigning one of a refinish, repair, or replacement treatment to each of the respective one or more damaged vehicle parts;

select a vehicle treatment facility for treating the damaged vehicle based upon a capability of the vehicle treatment facility for providing the identified type of vehicle treatment needed for treating the damaged vehicle; and

transmit information associated with treating the damaged vehicle to the selected vehicle treatment facility.

7 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the instructions, when executed by one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to receive crash information about the damaged vehicle, including receiving a description of the damaged vehicle, and the description of the damaged vehicle includes an auditory description and/or a visual description.

8 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 6 , wherein identifying which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle includes determining a price schedule for the identified type of vehicle treatment.

9 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 6 , wherein identifying which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle includes evaluating, by the one or more processors, crash information of the damaged vehicle with at least one vehicle treatment code of the vehicle type that includes the damaged vehicle.

10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

monitor vehicle marketing information of the vehicle type that includes the damaged vehicle, the vehicle marketing information including a market value for the vehicle type, a market value for a vehicle part for the vehicle type, and/or a market value for a prescribed vehicle treatment for the vehicle type; and

modify vehicle collision data based on a detected change in the monitored vehicle marketing information; wherein the identified type of vehicle treatment is based on the evaluation of the crash information and the modified collision data.

11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the monitoring of the vehicle marketing information includes a periodic interval of a minute, an hour, a day, or a week.

12 . A computer system, comprising:

a computing device including one or more processors;

one or more memory devices coupled to the one or more processors of the computing device, the one or more memory devices storing executable instructions that when executed by the one or more processors of the computing device cause the computer system to:

receive, by the one or more processors via one or more sensors coupled to a damaged vehicle having a vehicle type and having one or more damaged vehicle parts, sensor data associated with the damaged vehicle, captured near or at a time when damage occurred;

identify which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle based on analyzing the sensor data captured by the one or more sensors associated with the damaged vehicle at or near the time when the damage occurred, and historical damage information associated with other vehicles having a same vehicle type as the damaged vehicle and having damage to at least one same damaged vehicle part as the damaged vehicle, wherein identifying which type of vehicle treatment is needed for treating the damaged vehicle includes assigning one of a refinish, repair, or replacement treatment to each of the respective one or more damaged vehicle parts;

select a vehicle treatment facility for treating the damaged vehicle based upon a capability of the vehicle treatment facility for providing the identified type of vehicle treatment needed for treating the damaged vehicle; and

transmit information associated with treating the damaged vehicle to the selected vehicle treatment facility.

13 . The computer system of claim 12 , wherein the executable instructions, which executed by the one or more processors of the computing device, further cause the computer system to:

monitor vehicle marketing information of the vehicle type that includes the damaged vehicle, the vehicle marketing information including a market value for the vehicle type, a market value for a vehicle part for the vehicle type, and/or a market value for a prescribed vehicle treatment for the vehicle type; and

modify vehicle collision data based on a detected change in the monitored vehicle marketing information; wherein the identified type of vehicle treatment is based on an evaluation of crash information associated with the damaged vehicle and the modified collision data.

14 . The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the monitoring of the vehicle marketing information includes a periodic interval of a minute, an hour, a day, or a week.
