System and method for providing a trainer with live training data of an individual as the individual is performing a training workout
View Patent ↗An athlete tracking system and method for tracking an athlete during training sessions. The system includes a mobile tracking device wearable around a portion of the athlete, and a training log server for maintaining an athlete profile that includes a training record updatable by the athlete device and a training plan supplied by a coach.
1. A method for providing a coach with live training data of an athlete as the athlete is performing a training workout, the method comprising:
creating an athlete profile on a training log server of a computer web-based platform, the training log server being configured to maintain a plurality of athlete profiles, the athlete profile including a training record having a plurality predefined fields for storage of athlete training data, at least one of the fields corresponding to a distance aspect of an athlete's workout, at least another of the fields corresponding to a time aspect of the athlete's workout;
updating, at the platform, a training record in the athlete profile with workout data from a mobile tracking device carried with the athlete as the athlete is performing the workout, the workout data including a distance aspect and a time aspect; and
permitting a coach to log onto the platform and view the athlete's training data as the athlete is performing the training workout.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the athlete wears the mobile training device around the chest.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the athlete wears the mobile training device on a limb.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the coach views the athlete's training data as they run around a track.
5. A web-based platform for permitting a person to track an individual throughout a duration of the individual's workout, comprising:
a training log server configured to maintain a plurality of user profiles in a database, each user profile including a workout record having a plurality of fields that store information from a workout, at least one of the fields corresponding to a distance aspect, at least another one of the fields corresponding to a time aspect, the platform configured to be synchronized with a GPS tracking device worn by the individual so that the training log server is updated automatically with workout data from the tracking device; and
a processor programmed to receive positional data supplied by the tracking device through a communications link between the tracking device and a mobile communications device, and update the platform with the positional data during the individual's workout, said processor being configured to grant access to the positional data to another person so that the other person may log onto the platform and view the positional data of the individual as the individual is moving along a track, said processor being configured to provide the other person with access to the positional data as the positional data is being communicated to the platform.
6. The platform of claim 5 , wherein the individual is a runner.
7. The platform of claim 5 , wherein the individual is a human.
8. The platform of claim 5 , wherein said tracking device is configured to sense a heartrate of the individual.
9. The platform of claim 5 , wherein said tracking device is configured for wi-fi communications.
10. The platform of claim 5 , wherein said tracking device is configured for Bluetooth communications.
11. The platform of claim 5 , wherein the GPS device is configured to be worn around the individual's chest.
12. The platform of claim 5 , wherein the GPS device is configured to be worn around a limb of the individual.
13. A web-based platform for permitting a coach to track an individual throughout a duration of the individual's workout, comprising:
a training log server configured to maintain a plurality of individual profiles in a database, each profile including a workout record having a plurality of fields that store information from a workout, at least one of the fields corresponding to a distance aspect, at least another one of the fields corresponding to a time aspect, the platform configured to be synchronized with a GPS tracking device worn by the individual so that the training log server is updated with workout data from the tracking device;
a processor programmed to receive positional data supplied by the tracking device through a communications link between the tracking device and a mobile communications device, and update the platform with the positional data during the individual's workout, said processor being configured to permit access to the positional data to the coach so that the coach may log onto the platform and view the positional data of the individual as the individual is moving along a track, said processor being configured to provide the coach with access to the positional data as the positional data is being communicated to the platform.
14. The platform of claim 13 , wherein the individual is a runner.
15. The platform of claim 13 , wherein the individual is a human.
16. The platform of claim 13 , wherein said tracking device is configured to sense a heartrate of the individual.
17. The platform of claim 13 , wherein said tracking device is configured for wi-fi communications.
18. The platform of claim 13 , wherein said tracking device is configured for Bluetooth communications.
19. The platform of claim 13 , wherein the GPS device is configured to be worn around the individual's chest.
20. The platform of claim 13 , wherein the GPS device is configured to be worn around a limb of the individual.
21. A method for providing a person with live training data of a sporting event participant as the sporting event participant is performing a training workout, the method comprising:
creating a participant profile on a training log server of a computer web-based platform, the training log server being configured to maintain a plurality of participant profiles, the participant profile including a training record having a plurality predefined fields for storage of participant training data, at least one of the fields corresponding to a distance aspect of a participant's workout, at least another of the fields corresponding to a time aspect of the participant's workout;
updating, at the platform, a training record in the participant profile with workout data from a mobile tracking device carried with the participant as the participant is performing the workout, the workout data including a distance aspect and a time aspect; and
permitting a person to log onto the platform and view the participant's training data as the participant is performing the training workout.
22. The method of either claim 1 or 21 , further comprising communicating the training data to a means for accessing the platform to display live positional data along a route being travelled by the individual.
