Abstract

Provided is a signal forwarding method and related apparatus. In the method, a repeater determines which part of received signals, which are the cellular communication signals, are to be forwarded, according to a control of the network, and then utilizes a gain of the repeater to amplify the determined signals and forwarding the amplified signals. With this method, the effective power spectrum density transmitted by the repeater becomes larger. Multipath or multi-user interference may also be minimized.

Claims (43)

1 . A signal forwarding method, applied to a first device operating as a repeater, in which the first device is used to amplify cellular communication signals between a second device and a plurality of third devices in a network, the method comprising:

determining, by the first device, according to a control of the network, which part of received signals are to be forwarded, wherein the received signals are the cellular communication signals; and

utilizing, by the first device, a gain of the first device to amplify the determined signals and forwarding the amplified signals,

wherein the determining step comprises:

obtaining required information of repeating signal selectivity transmitted from the network; and

determining which part of the received signals are to be forwarded, based on the obtained required information,

wherein the obtaining step comprises:

obtaining a frame number that carries selectivity information and a frame number that will be applied selectivity control,

wherein the selectivity information comprises symbol duration, symbol number and associated symbol selectivity controls.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein in the determining step, the signals corresponding to the third device that is directly served by the first device are determined to be forwarded, and the signals corresponding to the third device that is not directly served by the first device are removed.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the received signals are forwarded in at least one of a partial frequency domain, a partial time domain and a partial spatial domain.

4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the utilizing step comprises:

utilizing a resource block repeater gain (RBRG) to amplify resource blocks allocated to the third device served by the first device.

5 . The method according to claim 4 , further comprising:

utilizing a designated RBRG received from the second device to amplify the resource blocks.

6 . The method according to claim 5 , further comprising:

reporting a capability of the first device to the second device for the second device to determine the designated RBRG,

wherein the capability of the first device comprises at least one of a maximum Total Power Repeater Gain (TPRG), a maximum RBRG and a maximum total transmit power.

7 . The method according to claim 4 , wherein the first device is operated at different RBRGs for the resource blocks.

8 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein the weaker the signals of the third device, the greater the RBRG is.

9 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising a plurality of instructions, when executed by a machine, the instructions cause the machine to perform the signal forwarding method according to claim 1 .

10 . A first device, operating as a repeater and used to amplify cellular communication signals between a second device and a plurality of third devices in a network, the first device comprising:

a Rx circuit;

a Tx circuit; and

a controller, coupled to the Rx circuit and the Tx circuit, the controller of the first device being configured to:

determine, according to a control of the network, which part of received signals, are to be forwarded, wherein the received signals are the cellular communication signals; and

utilize a gain of the first device to amplify the determined signals and forwarding the amplified signals,

wherein the controller is further configured to:

obtain required information of repeating signal selectivity transmitted from the network; and

determine which part of the received signals are to be forwarded, based on the obtained required information,

wherein the controller is further configured to:

obtain a frame number that carries selectivity information and a frame number that will be applied selectivity control,

wherein the selectivity information comprises symbol duration, symbol number and associated symbol selectivity controls.

11 . The first device according to claim 10 , wherein the signals corresponding to the third device that is directly served by the first device are determined to be forwarded, and the signals corresponding to the third device that is not directly served by the first device are removed.

12 . The first device according to claim 10 , wherein the received signals are forwarded in at least one of a partial frequency domain, a partial time domain and a partial spatial domain.

13 . The first device according to claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to:

utilize a resource block repeater gain (RBRG) to amplify resource blocks allocated to the third device served by the first device.

14 . The first device according to claim 13 , wherein the controller is further configured to:

utilize a designated RBRG received from the second device to amplify the resource blocks.

15 . The first device according to claim 14 , wherein the controller is further configured to:

report a capability of the first device to the second device for the second device to determine the designated RBRG,

wherein the capability of the first device comprises at least one of a maximum Total Power Repeater Gain (TPRG), a maximum RBRG and a maximum total transmit power.

16 . The first device according to claim 13 , wherein the first device is operated at different RBRGs for the resource blocks.
