Abstract

Example systems and methods for facilitating participant interactions during a virtual expo are provided. A video conference provider creates a virtual expo. The video conference provider receives, from a first client device associated with a first participant in the virtual expo, a request to interact with a second participant in the virtual expo. The video conference provider provides, to a second client device associated with the second participant, a notification of the request to interact. The video conference provider receives, from the second client device, an approval of the request. In response to receiving the approval, the video conference provider establishes a first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

Claims (79)

1. A method comprising:

creating, by a video conference provider, a virtual expo;

receiving, by the video conference provider from a first client device associated with a first participant in the virtual expo, a request to interact with a second participant in the virtual expo;

providing, by the video conference provider to a second client device associated with the second participant, a notification of the request to interact;

receiving, by the video conference provider from the second client device, an approval of the request; and

in response to receiving the approval, establishing a first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first virtual interaction session is a virtual meeting.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first virtual interaction session is a text chat session.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the virtual expo comprises one or more virtual expo booths, wherein the method further comprises:

receiving a second request to interact with a virtual booth of the one or more virtual expo booths from the first participant or the second participant; and

establishing a second virtual interaction session between the first participant, the second participant, and the virtual booth, while maintaining the first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the video conference provider from a third client device, a request to interact with the second participant in the virtual expo;

providing, by the video conference provider to the second client device, a notification of the request to interact with the second participant;

receiving, by the video conference provider from the second client device, an approval of the request; and

in response to receiving the approval, joining, by the video conference provider, the third client device to the first virtual interaction session.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining one or more avatars in proximity to a first avatar corresponding to the first participant in the virtual expo, the one or more avatars comprising a second avatar corresponding to a second participant;

determining a common interest associated with the first participant and the second participant; and

providing, to the first client device associated with a first participant, an indication of the common interest and the second participant associated with the second avatar.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising providing, to the second client device associated with the second participant, a second indication of the common interest and the first participant associated with the first avatar.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second client device and a third client device were previously in a virtual interaction session, a third participant associated with the third client device, and further comprising:

determining a proximity of the first participant to at least one of the second participant and the third participant;

determining a subject matter of a conversation between the second participant and the third participant in the virtual interaction session configured as publicly accessible;

determining the subject matter of the conversation is aligned with an interest of the first participant; and

providing, to the first client device associated with the first participant, an indication of the subject matter of the conversation and the virtual interaction session.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a plurality of subject matters of conversations in a plurality of virtual interaction sessions within the virtual expo, each virtual interaction session of the plurality of virtual interaction sessions configured as publicly accessible;

identifying a subject matter of a conversation in a virtual interaction session is aligned with an interest of the first participant, the virtual interaction session comprising the second participant and a third participant;

providing, to the first client device associated with the first participant, an indication of the subject matter and the virtual interaction session; and

providing, to the first client device associated with the first participant, an indication of a location of an avatar corresponding to at least one of the second participant and the third participant.

10. A system comprising:

a communications interface;

a non-transitory computer-readable medium; and

one or more processors communicatively coupled to the communications interface and the non-transitory computer-readable medium, the one or more processors configured to execute processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

create a virtual expo;

receive, from a first client device associated with a first participant in the virtual expo, a request to interact with a second participant in the virtual expo;

provide, to a second client device associated with the second participant, a notification of the request to interact;

receive, from the second client device, an approval of the request; and

in response to receipt of the approval, establish a first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the virtual expo comprises one or more virtual expo booths, wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

receive a second request to interact with a virtual booth of the one or more virtual expo booths from the first participant or the second participant; and

establish a second virtual interaction session between the first participant, the second participant, and the virtual booth, while maintaining the first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

receive, from a third client device, a second request to interact with the second participant in the virtual expo;

provide, to the second client device, a second notification of the second request to interact with the second participant;

receive, from the second client device, a second approval of the second request; and

in response to receiving the second approval, join the third client device to the first virtual interaction session.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

determine one or more avatars in proximity to a first avatar corresponding to the first participant in the virtual expo, the one or more avatars comprising a second avatar corresponding to the second participant;

determine a common interest associated with the first participant and the second participant; and

provide, to the first client device associated with the first participant, an indication of the common interest and the second participant associated with the second avatar.

14. The system of claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

obtain connection information between the first participant and the second participant from a social media platform; and

provide, to the first client device with the first participant, an indication of the connection information.

The system of claim 10 , wherein the second client device and a third client device were previously in a virtual interaction session, a third participant associated with the third client device, and wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

obtain connection information between the first participant, the second participant, and the third participant from a social media platform; and

provide, to the first client device, one or more indications of the connection information.

16. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:

create a virtual expo;

receive, from a first client device associated with a first participant in the virtual expo, a request to interact with a second participant in the virtual expo;

provide, to a second client device associated with the second participant, a notification of the request;

receive, from the second client device, an approval of the request; and

in response to receipt of the approval, establish a first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause the one or more processors to:

receive a second request to interact with a virtual expo booth of one or more virtual expo booths of the virtual expo from the first participant or the second participant; and

establish a second virtual interaction session between the first participant, the second participant, and the virtual expo booth, while maintaining the first virtual interaction session between the first participant and the second participant.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause the one or more processors to:

determine one or more participants in proximity to the first participant in the virtual expo, the one or more participants comprising the second participant;

determine a common interest associated with the first participant and the second participant; and

provide, to the first client device, an indication of the common interest and the second participant.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause the one or more processors to:

determine a plurality of subject matters of conversations in a plurality of virtual interaction sessions within the virtual expo, each virtual interaction session of the plurality of virtual interaction sessions configured as publicly accessible;

identify a subject matter of a conversation in a virtual interaction session aligned with an interest of the first participant, the first virtual interaction session comprising the second participant and a third participant;

provide, to the first client device, an indication of a common interest and the first virtual interaction session; and

provide, to the first client device, an indication of a location of an avatar corresponding to at least one of the second or third participants.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause the one or more processors to:

obtain connection information between the first participant and the second participant from a social media platform; and

provide, to the first client device, an indication of the connection information.
